Home yesterday about this time when some people came down the street yelling about pistols and calling somebody out using that famous "N" word. Seems like it was directed at the house kitty corner across the street from us, a rental. (We don't live in what you would call an upscale neighborhood.)

It suddenly got quiet and I noticed that three police cars had appeared. I stayed inside because you don't want to attract the notice of people like that.
All in all, this is kind of a quiet town so anytime anything happens, every cop in this end of town shows up to scope it out. :D

My sisters and I hid behind the rose bushes which are loaded with blooms by the way

Better stay away from that action. Time to move that family and sheep farm to a more upscale location.

We can't afford to move to a more upscale location. It's not all that bad. I grew up about three blocks from where I live now with my husband. He had the house and I moved in with him. Besides, we have firearms available and you can get three police cars in just a couple minutes. :D

Wow, hope you have your yard light up at night to keep unwanteds at bay or at least make them think twice. Are you home alone during the day? I wouldn't make that a known thing in that hood. Keep your heads down.

No yard lights. Why make it easy for them to see? Our shrubbery is so thick you can't get to the windows without a ladder. The back yard has a high board fence and a jungle of shrubbery and trees. Picture climbing over the fence into a tangle of wild roses. And you can get an all over tan back there without being seen. ;) We also have deadbolts on the door and we block the sliding door. Then I have my readily accessible LadySmith and other firearms as well. Anyone want lessons in home security?

Besides, the neighborhood isn't really all that bad. I grew up only three blocks from here. Before I moved in I would come here after school and my husband would take me home so I would be there before curfew. (Midnight)

While I was growing up, my mom worked from 6PM 'til about 2AM every day but Sunday and I was home alone. We had a safety strategy worked out and I kept a low profile. And if she was seeing a guy, he was NEVER allowed to come around when I was home alone.

The way to go if you have the opportunity. My mom even comes over to take advantage of our back yard seclusion.
