Got my ground blind and tree stand set up today.

Pic #1 Ground blind is sitting on top of North/South ridge 20 yards from a heavily used trail.

Pic #2 is theview towards the trail from the ground blind. The trail runs between the two oak trees on either side of the rock.

Pics #3-5 Views of the shooting lanes from up in the treestand. Currently the lanes are only 15-20 yards. Once the leaves drop, I will be able to shoot out 30-35. The treestand is at the intersection of one north/south trail and two east/west trails.

There is an old blowing doe that I hope to kill from the treestand. She ruined a couple of hunts the last couple of years. She is smart and never comes quite into range. I hoping this year that problem gets solved.

Rained here all day so I decided to go check the camera that I put out two weeks ago. Didn't have any bucks on it. Did have a guy and his kid walk by and not even see the camera. Did have this guy show up too.[IMG][IMG]

In Wisconsin you have to apply for a bear tag. In the area where this bear is, a person can usually draw a tag every two years. Further up north it can take upwards if 8 years. The reason I haven't applied is it would take a lot of my time away from deer hunting. Maybe some day down the road I will start applying.

shawn, anytime you want to come bear hunting you are more than welcome. you can stay in my shop. I can't stand bears. anything to kill those nuisance things. they are starting to really hurt the deer herd in my area.

The corn in our area is really starting to dry up fast. I would not be surprised to see a combine in the field in about two weeks.

This morning PSE issued a recall on the Fang LT, XT, and Thrive crossbows. Unfortunately, I bought the LT for my boys to hunt with. I sent it back to PSE. They are supposed to have either a repair or replacement to me in about two weeks. Hopefully that time frame is accurate because our archery season starts in four weeks.

Yeah, the announcement about the recall just happened to be the first thing in my facebook feed when I looked at it this morning.

I am making the 4 hour trek down to the farm tomorrow to finish up my prep work for deer season. They are supposed to get rain today and tomorrow so I will have to wait until Monday to work up my kill plot and plant it. So Sunday will be all about checking stands, trimming lanes, and putting up my new ground blind I bought before our gander mountain closed. It's actually out in the yard airing out right now.

Pretty excited to check cams to see if my bucks have stuck around or if they have moved off like in years passed. I will take some pics of my setup and post when I get back on Tuesday.

I the opposite. I'm waiting for a rain day to go out and hang stands. I hang them in the rain so my scent gets washed out.
