I am fine with that but it seems like Henson would be a good choice. Either way is fine by me.

    Team name suggestion: The Boonerifics.

Looks like Henson does not want to be Captain. Unless someone else is just dying to do it, I will. If there are no objections, we need to settle on a team name. Here is what has been suggested so far:

    • Stay Tuned UPDATE at 5
    • Stay Tined Update at 5
    • Not your Mom's team 5
    • Gaining Bowmentum
    • Just Bowshit
    • T-Bones Cardiologist
    • Bill Busbice's Parole Officer
    • The Real Bow Hunters of Pike County
    • Bowtastic Boomers
    • Nothing but Antlers
    • Boiler Maker Busters
    • Bambi Slayer
    • The Boonerifics
I think that is all the suggested names. Let's get it decided and I will check it in with Fitz.

I like the real bow hunters of pike county. We could even change it to booner county or buck county

Here is a nice one from July 8th. Hard to see at that angle but he's a ten point. 20170730_110944.jpg

    Rack packers

Just some ideas. I don mind any names as long as they aren't vulgar.

So how is everyone's preseason prep going?

My season opens Oct 1st. Labor day weekend I am going to head down to the farm to plant my last food plot. After that I need to move a couple stands because they are either next to dead ash trees or connected to them. I will also check straps on a few others and trim any shooting lanes that need it. But the thing I am probably most excited about is putting up a couple treecoys. No it's not that fake one MAD sells. I am going to cut down two saplings and put them out in two different food plots. I have wanted to try this for a couple years and I think this year is the year I give it a try.

I need to get my ground blind and treestand out. I will probably do that next weekend. Other than that, more crossbow practice with my boys and practice for myself with the compound. Unless something major comes up, I plan on doing my first 3-D shoot tomorrow. I have been meaning to do one all summer but between grad school and the baby on the way, my weekends have been too busy.

Mine is going great so far, got one stand already hung, going to get two more hung this next week along with a couple more salt blocks out. Im also thinking about doing a late season food plot on the camp ground i hunt on, not sure yet. Other than that its a waiting game until September 30th for me.

Yeah I will be interested to see what my cameras have on them next pull labor day weekend. Our place has a tendency to have some decent bucks on it during the June-August months but then they start to scatter as the velvet comes off. Sometimes they come back as the pre-rut and rut happen because we hold a lot of does. But other times we don't see them again until after the season ends and we put the feeders back out.

This year I made a few changes to try and keep them or at least bring them back sooner. For starters I left a lot more tall thick grass in our open areas around our food plots and mowed narrower atv paths to help give them more cover along the timber edges. We have also switched up our fall plot crops a bit and added another 1/4 acre kill plot by our eastern property line to help draw in deer that may have left our place.

Let's narrow the team name options to one of these two:

    1. The Real Bowhunters of Pike (Booner, Buck,..) County
    2. Stay Tined Update at Five
We will go whichever has the most votes by Monday at Noon CST. We are still waiting on "wibowhntr" to check in. He has until September 1st. If he hasn't I will ask Fitz to assign a replacement.

I vote for Cantexian and I am going to stay with my previous vote for Stay Tined Update at 5, because we are Team 5.
