I went out this morning. Clipped a doe in the leg with what I think was a not fatal hit. My arrow has incredibly clean. I found blood in small specks for about 200 yards without finding a bed before it ran out. Grid searched for another 200 before I hit a state park boundary and had to stop. Looked for about four hours in total. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Ended up being a great night for a first hunt with my middle boy. Saw 12 does and two bucks including the 150” 10 point and about a 115” 8 point that looked almost as wide as the 10. I am guessing father and son because most bucks on this property go high and tight with their racks. One doe came close enough for a shot but stayed head on, so I didn’t shoot. When I shot, the bow was right against the tree trunk because of where she stopped. I had to draw my bow without aiming at her and then swing to the right and get right against the trunk to shoot. She caught me drawing and an jumped back 10 yards and got curious and walked back in to 10 yards. From the lack of blood on the arrow and at the initial spot, I think I clipped the inside of her left leg and shaved her armpit.
This warm weather sucks! Tonight is the only day I will be hunting this week. I am going to sit by the river maybe with the temps the deer will be thirsty. The rest of the week I will be bringing my niece out for youth firearm.
Didn't see anything at the river. Hopefully my niece has better luck than me this year so far. 16mph south winds today is not good though only have one spot that isn't the best for her at the farm with those winds. Sunday looks like a good day pray to the deer gods that she gets her first deer. early youth ends Sunday after that I am going to hit it hard.
Boy am I having a hard time this year seeing deer. Nothing tonight with the niece it was sure windy good thing I staked the blind down otherwise we would have blew away. Looking back the passed 6 years I have only shot 1 deer before Oct 15 though so I am not worried. The property I hunt the most is between a large swamp and a park reserve. Until it gets closer to the rut these buggers are smart they don't come out during daylight. Every deer I shot in passed years was 10 mins or less to end of legal shooting hours with the exception of one that I snuck in and it was still hanging out in the woods in the morning. Sometime I wonder why I even hunt the property early season. It can only get better from here how is everyone else doing?
I am not hunting this weekend. It will be 80 degrees tomorrow and I have family commitments all day Sunday. Pumpkin decorating with the kids tomorrow. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums

I am loving the forecast for Saturday. High of 52, low of 33. That's about as good as it gets in Arkansas in October. I think I will be hunting the morning by myself and take my oldest out in the evening to see if he can get a doe.
Weather is looking great. We have a pretty good chance of an inch of snow Saturday. Then a slight chance of snow Sunday and Monday. High temps through November 2nd are upper 30's to mid 40's. Should have great rutting action. Sent from my XT1650 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
