will oil and garlic spread around your area scare the deer away? Some jacka** did that to my spot. Debating if I should move or wait it out.

play the wind and don't worry about it. A deer can smell that can smell you.

No its not on any property line. Its state land. About 5000 acres of state land. So far this season I've only seen 1 other guy out by there. Been hunting this area for 3 years now. Shot a doe Tuesday night and finally went back out sunday night to find motor oil all around my area. Had a like garlic smell also. I dunno. People here suck I do know that. Specially if you see deer and they don't.

    Wow. I’d report it.
First, dumping motor oil all over is a real DB move. It will certainly violate all kinds of environmental laws.
Second, many states have laws against harassing a hunter who is legally pursuing game.
Sounds way more like a PETA squirrel squeezer type move than a jealous hunter...unless there is a fantastic buck they’ve gotten pictures of. Some lose their minds over a Booner.
Hard to say which you’re dealing with.

I agree with mod-it. The two statements can have serious penalties. It would be nice to identify the moron who did this. Me? When they were caught, I would push for the maximum penalties.

I would at least wait for a good rain, hopefully wash some of that away. I'm not an expert wildlife biologist, but I would say wait a while before sitting there hunting for hours. Just in case. And definitely call the local warden, they can't do anything in the future if they don't know about it.

I would say it's probably a good idea to call the wardens/COs just to report it so they don't think you did it.
Could be a set-up from the start. A*hole dumps crap all around your stand, reports it, COs check it out and see your car or you in the area.
