Didn't watch it. Will get cliff notes tomorrow. Pretty sure I know the gist of it already. Bypassing Congress, immigration reform, give everyone on the lower end more money because that will spur our economy. Between his arrogance and Congress's incompetence, we're just going to be subjected to more and more ridiculousness. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S4.
This is awful. Biden looks constipated, Obama is a ****ing idiot, and it looks like the cost of living is going to go up tenfold.
I didn't watch it...what do you mean by paycut? Hardly anything which is talked about in those speeches actually happens.
i turned it. I almost put a few rounds through the TV and decided i liked my tv more than i wanted to listen to him.
How does Biden keep that smirk on his face ALL THE TIME?!? It drives me nuts Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think we were lied to, no where did hear him say how this year would be better if you were a bisexual truck driving vegan whom has fallen behind on its pet support payments because of no fault of their own. This issue needs addressed, maybe slow Joe can look into it for us.
Common sense destroys the idea that raising minimum wage accomplishes anything...only those that don't have to "work" for their money think it is a good thing!
the state of the union is there is not much unity and we're in a sorry state. It took him 45 minutes to say that. Anyone notice how Pelosi looks like Steve Buscemi in Billy Madison when he smears the lipstick all over his face?
last I checked, "those that don't work for their money" don't have jobs, so what do they care what the minimum wage is? People who DO work hard for their money, working multiple jobs for 50+ hours a week, THOSE are the people that think its a good thing. Also people who care about others who are working 50+ hours a week to barely make ends meet think its a good thing. The only people who don't think its a good thing are people who "have theirs" and don't care about people outside of their demographic. Its no secret that raising the minimum wage takes money out of the pocket of the business owner, who are often much too greedy to care about their employees' lives and thus lay people off. They only care about their own bank account.
Wrong, raising minimum wage does not take money out of the business owners pockets. This is a liberal fallacy. Raising minimum wage requires the business owner to do one of two things. Raise the prices of their goods or get lean. Getting lean means less employees doing more work. Raising minimum wage is a direst attack on the middle class. If minimum wage goes up, then my dollar is worth less than it was before because inflation will go up due to the minimum wage. Infact, raising minimum was doesn't even help people on minimum wage because inflation will generally be higher than what their raises were.
As a small business owner, when i have large wiring jobs come up, i go out and hire grunts to pull cable. most the time i pay them $8-$8.50 an hour. it's a temp job and they are just doing general labor that anybody could do. if they don't like it, there are 20 guys in line to replace them. do i think they are worth $10-$11 an hour? heck no otherwise i would pay them that. when you have to bring on 5 guys for a 6 week job, that's a couple thousand more just in their payroll that the price of the job went up. i cant take it out of my bottom line because i have a business to run. so now you have to bid jobs higher, which means risking contracts, which in turn could mean if you lose a bid you are out way more than a couple grand. people think that raising the minimum wage is the answer to get people out of poverty. but like others have said, all its going to do is cause business owners to pass the high costs back to the consumer which in turn helps nobody. except for the government cause they are still getting all their taxes out of it.
btw as a business owner i take offense to this statement. yes i know there are some greedy CEOs out there but most of us are not that way. I care a lot about my employees. I do anything i can for them. When business is slow, i make sure they are taken care of before i am taken care of. so what if i have to grab another notch on my belt, my employees are what keeps my business running. they can make or break me. if i take care of them, they feel more inclined to take care of me. and that in turn keeps clients happy and coming back for repeat business. hell even some of the temps i help out from time to time. yes raising minimum wage will take a little more out of the business because we are required to match federal taxes. so with higher wages, means we are paying higher taxes. but for the most part, higher costs will be passed on to the clients. I hate to do that but as i deal with commercial clients, they are doing the same thing and they completely understand.
