No. I am not forgetting nor am I ignorant to how things transpired. However it does not excuse the injustices to how they were treated once they arrived and for the couple hundred years after that. Slavery was, I agree, part of what was considered to be true and right at the time, but I would hope that we can learn from our history, embrace advanced civilization and not make excuses for the way we have behaved. If Billy steals a bow from your truck and sells it to Jimmy, and I buy it from Jimmy, I am still in possession of stolen property. And if I knowingly buy stolen property I am now part of the crime, in this case the problem. It does not matter that I am not the one that stole the bow. I don't think that there is any justification to the things that happened. Nor do I think that we cam make up for them either. What we can do is let go of the hill billy redneck BS or the oh poor me attitude that we hold onto and move on.
LA, I do agree with this as well. But in reality, not even the more conservatives try to make these changes. I also find it tough to swallow that I have to take random drug tests to be employed with my current employer, yet there are those that get my tax dollars and do not have to be drug free, but that has nothing to do with slavery and how good "they" have it. Part of my first post was aimed at this subject as well, what I think Obama is using his term in office to accomplish, and it is not the advancement or improvement of this country.

I am not the least bit prejudice. I think everyone should get their fair share. I don't care what color you are. Just get your fair share the same way everyone should - through honest hard work. Don't expect to get a handout if you don't try to better yourself. For crying out loud, some of my best friends are black or Mexican. Guess what, they went to school and succeeded and are gainfully employed. Unless you are disabled, you should be able to do the same. Need help from the gov't, submit to the rules I mentioned before. jmho

Answer this: Was even one line of what I pasted a lie? You can twist it however you want and it all remains the truth. That was a lie. There is a difference. If they are honest with themselves, they would have to agree. Statistics are not misleading. Pretty much is what I started with.
