Sad however also in same breath justified. Character is not recovered in a moment or even a year. Ted doesn't bug me as much when he discusses politics as he does when discussing hunting issues....a perpetual game law violator has zero business speaking for hunters IMO. Whether you've changed or not the foundation has been laid sadly.

The substance of what said matters from whom it come from, not just because I may or may not agree.

Ted Bundy can say the sky is blue, well because it's blue. Ted can also state how he loves and values human life and we all should do the same, anybody going to listen to him?

Ted N or Trump can talk about family values, military and honesty, while I may agree with what they say, those two talking about those values is, well laughable and I completely dismissed their view, based on their actions.

The issue we have today is "sides", as long as what is said is on our "side" then the speaker has merit.

Ted has zero credibility on anything he states about family, god or military with me, not on the context of what he says, based on his actions on how he lives.

    Talk is cheap

Now I do not go that far personally as Germ. Shoot I can remember SOTU addresses by Obama...where I greatly appreciated portions of, and if present would have clapped/stood even. DESPITE not being an overall fan of him.

Same can be said of Trump...I distrust his morals/behavior but thoughts some things of his SOTU address was amazing.

    That's exactly why i don't have a "side"

I could care less what kind of person an individual is if it isn't affecting me. I'm concerned about the parts that do affect me. Example...By all accounts I have heard, and seen him displayed in informal settings, Barak Obama seems like a generally nice person, someone you would likely have fun hanging out with and drinking a beer. Now his political views I disagree with almost entirely...like 99%, but that doesn't mean I think he is a bad person, and I didn't automatically write off everything he said just because it was he who said it. Trump on the other hand, seems like an arrogant self serving elitist...and he may very well be. he would not be a person at the top of my list to be friends with...but that doesn't mean I don't listen to what he has to say politically...good thing because a lot of it actually makes sense. If you don't like Nugent for personal reasons that's one thing...but that doesn't mean he isn't correct about what he says. Devaluing the substance of what a person says because of a personal distaste for the individual, for unrelated reasons, is a disservice to yourself and others.

If it was Mike Pence speaking I would listen, I have a great deal of respect for our VP, based on how he has lived, not his talk;)

How one lives and acts matter to me a great deal. From the people I listen and take advice from and my friends.

I like to joke with Sota a lot on this board. I don't know him, but based on what i have read he's a stand up guy. I do enjoy what he post and listen to his POV and respect it. There are many others here also, Covey is one also.

Any chance Pence runs? Next time, or in 7 years? If so, is he electable?

More on task, I agree that its hard to listen to a message from someone that did not walk the walk. But, when the President talks about the lowest unemployment rates in history and many other truly amazing stats that all bode well for our Country, its pretty juvenile to sit on your hands and act ambivalent. Worse yet, to scowl and pout. The libs wanted him to fail so badly, that they don't care what it would have done to the rest of us.

Job numbers rates are fake, Trump said so himself, so why should anyone listen?

    Sept. 28, 2015
“I hear 5.3 percent unemployment, that is the biggest joke there is in this country. That number is so false.”

    Oct. 11, 2015
“Nobody has jobs. … It is not a real economy. It is a phony set of numbers. They cooked the books.”

    Feb. 9, 2016
“Don't believe those phony numbers when you hear 4.9 and 5 percent unemployment. As high as 35 — as in fact, I heard recently, 42 percent.”

    March 12, 2016
“The numbers are phony. These are all phony numbers. Numbers given to politicians to look good. These are phony numbers.”

    May 24, 2016
“You hear a 5 percent unemployment rate. It's such a phony number. That number was put in for presidents and for politicians so that they look good to the people.”

    July 7, 2016
“The phony 5 percent numbers that we hear about with the unemployment.”

    Aug. 8, 2016
“The 5 percent figure is one of the biggest hoaxes in modern politics.”

    Nov. 4, 2016
“The terrible jobs report that just came out … you can see phony numbers, 5 percent.”

    Dec. 8, 2016
“The unemployment number, as you know, is totally fiction.”

Trump may be a hypocrite about Christianity and family values, etc..I don't care. I'm not a believer and more than that, I'm nobody's moral judge.

But he has done more things to keep promises to the evangelicals in his base than any president before him. He may not be dudley dooright, but his actions speak louder than previous presidents who have professed to be "born again."

Germ what you said, it touched me man. I would also say there isn't anyone on the board here that I would not have a beer with. heck a few I would buy the beer. It was actually something I was thinking as I was driving thru the everglades today it has been a long week I should really figure out when I travel who on the board lives where I am going when I travel. I try to get in touch with old friends when I travel but I will be honest I don't have many friends I have stayed in touch with, so bowhunting.com folks would be fun to meet, maybe.

It has been interesting listening to talk radio this week since the speech and it got me wondering how come there are no successful liberal talk radio stations other than the gov't funded NPR?

Dismissing the truth because of someones actions is akin to acting like a petty little girl. The truth is the truth and cannot be dismissed no matter who spoke it. We've seen more than enough of this already.

I don't think there's anyone that hasn't had at least one "do as I say, not as I do" moments in their life.

    Ex.
Me to my son: " Don't smoke it's bad for you"

Seeing as how I smoke (trying to quit now) I would surly hope he does not dismiss my view because of my actions. The truth is the truth.

In today’s world we have to clarify. Sota said “touch me”, I want to make it clear I have not touch sota in any way
Okay, what's the truth and that's the problem. I just posted where 9 times Trump stated unemployment number is fake, now he states it's correct,

Which is it? What's the truth? Because they are not calculating it any differently .

The main issue is the truth and Trump does not speak it at all. Sure the stock market is doing great, it has the last 8 years, that's the truth. I agree with you GregH the truth is the truth.

Here some truth go look at how many people lost their jobs today from Cabelas. These folks are my friends, they did not get severance, most do not make 6 figures. They just got walked out the door. truth.

Yup, I live and work around the counties which make up what is known as the RV Capital of the world (Elkhart County, IN). We are the first areas to show if economy is growing or dying...unemployment during the last big recession back in like 2009 or whatever it was shot up over 10% in just two months. Right now last I heard the unemployment rate is so low in our county one has to choose to remain unemployed. Local industries have waved drug testing as part of the application process just to try and fill roles/positions. IT truly is crazy!
