Rory/MO enjoyed that post and i agree with you that the levels are personal, one person could be happy just being fortunate enough to be able to enjoy the great sport of hunting whether they saw a deer let alone killed a trophy. For me it's all about just being in the outdoors, getting away from civilization for a few hours, i consider myself successful if i can put up a stand, get deer in bow range without them being aware i was there. Although being successful isn't the same as achieving this next level that we so speak of, the next level for me would be to hunt in a place where there are bigger/older bucks, sadly this will never happen in my area because the locals are not knowledgeable about deer and their habits and every year the bucks being killed get younger and smaller. Very interesting thread, good to see different people's opinions on things.

I kind of knew the answer to my question. I just wanted to get it out in the open Josh. I think some people are afraid to admit that there are better big buck hunters than them and that work hard to obtain the skills needed to consistently kill those old boys. I am not afraid to admit I suck at hunting them and that I am working hard to obtain the skill base to at least give myself a shot.

I don't recall ever saying either one of those things.................and honestly have no clue what that would have to do with this discussion anyways.

You are extremely witty Atlas. I applaude your efforts at pressing your agenda upon all of us lost souls.

I was just curious what your lotto odds have been in the past and may be in the future, since that is all it comes down to.

What PROOF do you have to refute his opinion?

Atlas I think you're right, after another year in the woods they get stupider and are just as easy to kill. ;)

    Why is this necessary? ......lol

As with most things, Brett.....if you can say it one way....you ought to be able to say it the other way.

Why are a lot of big buck hunters afraid (or hesitant) to admit they were (in deer-speak) born on third base (in regards to where they hunt)? Why do so many want to project that they actually did hit that triple?

Don't answer that. It was a rhetorical question (on my end). In fact, it's ludicrous that anyone would think they had to admit that.......or anything else.

And in an unbelievable coincidence a high percentage of them all happen to live in the same places. Truely an amazing geographical anomaly.

You must suck at hunting zebras and polar bears dude, I have yet to see you bag one in Virginia ;)

Jeff, I hope you know my stand on this buddy....I have said it fifteen times. I am talking about ME, in my woods, given the variables I encounter. There are guys where I hunt that are much better big buck hunters. I admit it. I am not comparing Iowa, NC, or anywhere else. I am talking about a challenge with myself, in my neck of the woods. I am not asking anyone to admit anything. What I am asking for some people to use common sense and to understand that there are less older bucks, and as bucks age they get smarter....SO they are harder to kill given the small number and intelligence of those bucks in most everyone's hunting environment.
