I've found at least one meth lab (or the mess left behind) on all 6 properties I hunt at some point in the last 5 years.
Comes as no surprise to me.... Around where I live they used to have big problems with people stealing Anhydrous tanks from the farmers. They had to up police numbers to keep a closer watch on them.
One was busted a few years ago in the state park around my house. Seems like this crap is always in the news.
Look at Missouri. That poor state can not keep up with the disaster that Meth leaves behind. It is costing millions of dollars. This stuff is really tragic.
Dude... I didn't need a report to tell you that... It's EVERYWHERE around here. I don't even watch the 10 o'clock news any more because it's going to be about a fire somewhere, something about a city government dispute somwhere in the local area, and one or more local meth labs getting busted. The last one I heard about was a car that caught on fire going down the highway... passed a cop with flames coming out of the windows and got pulled over. Yep, moving meth lab.
I'd tell you the amount of propane tanks that get stolen by meth heads from ice shacks in the winter every year in my area...but I don't think they make numbers that high. The county I live in, and the neighboring country has the highest meth problem in MN.
Yeah, good ole Missouri. And if that weren't enough, my county has bounced between number 1 and 2 in the nation for the last 5 years. Ugh. Back in my days as a firefighter, house fires were a scary proposition in this county.
*sniff, sniff* Do I smell a Cubs fan? Yeah, I do. Thought I farted there for a second, but alas.......it's the definite stench of a Cubs fan. :D
Chisago! On the overall scope of things, Minnesota doesn't seem that high, but they bust anywhere from 5 to 7 methlabs every year in my town and the surrounding area, (which is roughly 1000 people). I've known a few people that have gotten hooked on it, it's a really sad thing.
Yup! I'm in Chisago Co. I'm not sure if it's up on top any more, I know Isanti and Pine are up there too.
Here is something I don't understand. From 2000 to 2004 my county had the highest crimes associated with meth in the state. We got a new sherrif in 2004 I believe and in two years time he pretty much eliminated the problem. There has not been a lab bust in over 3 years in our county that I can think of. Seriously...the guy and his department, with the help of the DEA, eliminated the problem in our county. The only thing you see in our newspaper as far as someone getting caught is from someone coming from Indiana or a neighboring county trying to steal aynhydrous. Everyone is back to normal so I can honestly tell you we went from the highest rate to non existent in 3 years with hard work from our L.E. It can be stopped.
I'm from MN too and I know my county is very high up there too! Pipestone. We have at least two major busts a month.
My county used to be the Meth capitol of the US (buying, selling and using) And in 04 we got a new sheriff and he has all but eliminated the problem!! Our sheriff ROCKS!!! When one of our officers was killed in 06, the SWAT team found the suspect in some woods and they told him to come out with his hands up and he made one wrong move and they shot him 110 times!! When asked why they shot him 110 times our sheriff replied "Because we ran out of ammunition!" That is my sheriff!!
Living in the outskirts of a metro area, you'd think we'd see more meth labs around here, but it really doesn't hit the news too often comapred to other drugs. I have no knowledge of anything being found in my areas.
