What do you suggest for a plot that is going to be on state land? (I'm not sure if it is legal, anyone know?) Will be working in the woods this weekend and was thinking about a 40x40 plot, I would be raking and possibly tilling (Turning over dirt) for the plot. Would throw and grow be the best route or can i get away with some true seed? thanks
I would suspect it would be illegal to plant anything on public land. I would contact the area land manager or conservation agent before I did anything.
^^^^X2. Would be a shame to put the time and money into something that is just gonna cause you more problems.
Not legal on the state land I hunt. Not supposed to trim lanes or anything. It's not even legal to shed hunt around here! Kinda silly, but those are the rules
Interesting to see what the response is from DNR but I suspect as others have said that it isn't allowed. Though I probably have clover seed dripping off my pant legs, pockets and boots everywhere I go from planting on my own property anyway.
Survey Says!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hello Corey, Thank you for your inquiry, it is legal to establish food plots. Food plots are considered naturally occurring foods, standing agricultural crops or food placed as a result of using normal agricultural practices. Food plots are not considered to be bait or feed. Food plots may not be planted on public land. Hope this helps. Best Regards, Autumn Feldpausch Outreach Assistant DNR Wildlife Division Too bad was hoping to throw some seed down. It may fall out of my pocket though
I wouldn't read that into the statement. It says that food plots are not considered bait. It does not say that bait is legal. Better check your regs before putting any bait on public land.
