Today we get to start a 4 week biology class that is from 9:00 AM - 1:30 PM every day (Mon - Fri). BIOL 101 How Life Works is one of those courses everyone has to have. If I walk in this morning and tell the professor "By continuing to exist, it remains alive." Do you think I can get my passing grade and skip this? 20 hours of lecture on the same subject is going to suck.
4 1/2 hours of Biology lecture every day is going to suck. I didn't mind BIO101, my professor was pretty interesting but I think I only had 1 hour lectures 3 days a week and a 2 hour lab.
I never took 101, I took the major specific course. That was I think 1hour 3x a week. I have to sit through hours of lectures here and it blows.
I serve as adjunct faculty for the State University of NY; Empire State College. With that said... accelerated summer terms are brutal. Students MUST stay focused and put their lives pretty much on hold - unfortunately, many don't and waste their money enrolling in such a course. I took a couple when I was a student - and thought the world had come to an end. Best wishes to you IV on your study - hope you get an 'A'. I like your creativity... but unfortunately, you're gonna' have to tough it out through 'seat-time'
This could get ugly. One of topics the professor said she was going to cover is evolution. I asked "One of the textbooks used at this university says that humans share about 7% of DNA with Neanderthals. The textbook for this class says we share about 50% DNA with banana trees. So is evolution wanting to believe we share more with fruit than we do with other humanoids?" Her response was my question was inappropriate. hmmmm
I took several semesters with multiple accelerated classes... what was I thinking? Brutal is a good description.
