No worries about bugs... Those stands are best in the middle of the day. Early September in southern KY, deer activity travelling those open mowed CRP fields during mid day is constant.... You won't have time to worry about bugs.
Really depends. The areas I have permission to hunt are mostly fields so I have fewer than I would like. One 20 acre tract I have 6 stands. A few are 70 yards apart and mostly for different winds. I also have started to use ground blinds more due to unpredictable wind swirls.
generally 1-2 stands per small hunting location I have... so I usually have 6 or so out at a time.. and I have my climber.
Lots of beech where I hunt........and it seems to be the tree of choice for licking branches. I find beech to be "middle of the pack" for flavour.....made the wife a pie out of them once and it was tasty. Another great thing about beech is how late they hold their leaves.
