I've got a nice kill plot but it's in a holler and the wind blows down the holler, where the deer come from. And i was gonna put my stand on a small hill side where i could shoot any deer that was in the plot. But after scouting i found that there are some heavily used trails behind where i was gonna put my stand on a small ridge. Should i hunt the trails above my kill plot on the ridge or hunt the kill plot? and the wind blows up the ridge away from the deer bedding area.

do the deer use those trails coming in to the kill plot? is the wind going to blow your scent on to those trails? If the deer are coming in from different trails and your wind is right, hunt the plot. if the deer are coming in on the trails behind you and the wind blows that way, hunt the trails.

they usally come up the holler and my scent goes down the holler. But if i was on the ridge with a west wind then my scent would blow back toward my house away from the deer. And yes the deer use the trails on the ridge to get into my plot.
