This may have been discussed on here before,I don't remember so here goes. What is the preferred height that you set lock-on stands at or climb to on your hunting land?I set most of mine at appr.16 ft.but have been getting busted quite often.the one deer I have killed this year was from a 20 ft stand.I know that's probably a no brainer but was just interested in some feed back. Thanks in advance

I usually sit about 15-20 ft depending on the stand. In one particular stand I am 10ft, and another I'm about 25-30 ft. It depends on the stand position, the area you're hunting, the wind, and how comfortable you are with the given height. I hunt 6 different stands, and 4 of them stay between 15-20 ft (we use 6 climbers that stay on the tree)

I try to get 20-25, and I try to hunt out of trees with multiple trunks instead of just a straight tree. Put my stand on the rear trunk, and I have my bow on a trunk right in front of me. Let's me get away with all the little head/hand movement we tend to make.

I usually sit between 15-20 feet it really depends on the lay of the land and the tree i am in in which i decide my height in a tree.

At least for me and my experiences, 18-20 feet has been good for me. 15 just feels too low for me, though a lot of guys have great success. As many have said, it really depends a lot on the available cover. However, the higher you go, the better chance you have a getting your scent above the deer's nose. But, I tried the 25-30 feet stuff a couple of times. I'm not afraid of heights, but I didn't care for it much. Shot angle is too steep and its breezier up there! ;-)
