I love him for the first part, dislike him because of the second part. I'll admit when watching a hunt and he's involved I always love the after shot reaction fake or not it's priceless because I have no doubt that's how he was before the films and he's simply trying to keep that now.
NO WAY... would I want to do what he is doing. He barely has time to unpack and then its off to another place to hunt for a very few days. He has tons of pressure to put something on the ground and tons of pressure to push products. He has to hunt with cameramen and has zero time for family. When not hunting, he has to tell the same few stories a million times over to people at outdoors shows. That would be more of a nightmare than a dream. I want to hunt on my own terms, not the terms of some video production company. I have actually made some connections while on hunting trips with some well-known hunting "clelebrities" and three times have been offered opportunities to get involved and have had no problem whatsoever turning them all down without hesitation. It would go against every reason that I enjoy the outdoors.
Met Stan at the Iowa Deer Classic, and he was very nice and friendly, especially to my little cousin. As watching him on tv, I don't have a problem with him and I like his reactions when he recovers the deer or when he first sees it.
The guy always comes across as happy and energetic about life in the videos which is awesome. After that, I don't know him from a hole in the wall. I wish him the best.
Stan Potts is one of the few on TV these days that I actually enjoy watching. I like the emotion the guy shows, its real. Sure, he's not much different than all the other half hour hunting infomercials pushing products these days, but I like the guy. He's one of the most knowledgeable big buck hunters out there. He knows his stuff.
Stan may be a little corny at times but I enjoy him....heck look how many bucks over 200" he has shot lol.....
