Stalk of the century!

had a blast stalking this beautiful 10 point from at 1500 yards out watched him cross over a field and cut down a game trail next to the missouri river.
hunting public land is a challenge and very much so when you stalk!
the previous day i hunted another parcel and met some hunters as i was leaving and after some conversations i confirmed what i had already knew of the place i would rather be.
due to rain fall the roads are at times closed because flooding this does not mean it cant be any hunting it just means you have to put in the work.
i hiked in roughly 2 1/2 miles and came across 18 deer while doing so i knew no other hunter would be out here because the distance to get in and waist high water at times i had to cross.
my best friend a army special op's guy loves to stalk as well so he tagged along with me as this is something we do together all times.
we came to a point where he felt comfortable working and i decided to push forward.
i glassed this deer make his move on that game trail and the pursuit was on.
the last 175 yards i belly crawled closing the gap and being patient.
funny because i actually thought he was a 14 point at that distance
i had to move slowly and precisely every element was in my favor the wind, the sound of the water, other animals chattering even through all this it felt like every inch every move i made sounded like dynamite going off atleast thats how our thought process works.
at 40 yards i used a huge tree to shadow behind blinding his line of sight
i eased up slowly and it felt like eternity drew back on my bow took a step back from the tree and peeked around.
the king was still there right where i anticipated he would be, i waited, took a deep breath and released it was a through and through lung shot he ran 100-125 yards before collapsing.

 

Looks like he died of EHD

 

Doesn't look very fresh and it looks like animals caped out the skull for you. I call BS on the whole deal.

 

I dont know why but I want to believe him. But I checked another post of his and now have reservations.

He has averaged 7 deer a year killed from the ground? I've never heard of anyone doing that. Like I said I want to believe him.

Why wouldn’t you have taken a pic of the entire deer?

Also why are the nose bones broken on that skull?

 

as far as taking photos with a dead animal and me posing next to it is something i just dont do.
we each have our very own beliefs and we each share beliefs with others.
as a native american by my heritage its something that was engraved into me by my grand father.
on the other now of why its a bare skull well here is the reason
my dog chewed on this skull for nearly a day and half before i even took a picture my wife wants to bleach it and hang it somewhere in the house.

Note.....i shared this openly and out of the fuel for the stalk
those stand hunters most are wanna call BS because they cant fathom working for these beautiful animals.......they sit in front of phones and computers trying to learn to be good hunters and call great hunts BS because they will never be able to do it unless they ambush one from a stand or ground blind

 

I don't believe it for a second, especially coming from a first poster!

 

Cut him some slack guys, hes obviously using that new broadhead that capes and quarters your deer on impact

actually i use NAP killzone C.O.C trophy tip as a broadhead choice
and Easton FMJ arrows
G5 Rogue or Mathews Triax depending on the location i hunt

Call me a skeptic but that skull doesn't in any way look like a fresh kill. Why is 3/4 of the hide missing and look like it's rotted off?

 

Never seen such a clean knife after gutting and skinning an animal. Any animal. I've cleaned squirrels up and had a dirtier blade. I mean there isn't a single speck of dirt, blood, hair. Nothing. I gotta get me one of those I'm usually forever in front of the sink tryin to get all the bits off of mine.

Idk, this story has everything! Flooding, waist deep water, a special ops guy and belly crawling. Sounds legit. Why not just take a pic with the whole deer? You have to have expected with that windy story that you would get some push back.

man thats not a fresh kill that skull is nearly a day and half old after my dog went to work on it the knife is sitting there because it had rope tied through it to keep the dog from running of with it and needed to be cut.
clearly in a post further up it was stated that my dog chewed on it

also in the pic.....my camel pack and G5 rogue bow opened the tailgate and put those items on it.
we just got back from another hunt as i was trying to help a friend get a deer.
pulled up to my house and my dog did his job on the skull as he does to every deer i kill its a treat for him and the wife wanted to bleach the skull so what better way? besides going through the tedious process of doing it.

I'm not calling you a liar, but honestly, why go through the trouble of cleaning a nice skull like that just so the dog can have it. Why not just give it to the dog? You said you planned on bleaching and hanging it first, but you let the dog chew on it? Something stinks!
