I have been bow hunting for a while but, I have never understood what a staging area is. If anybody can inform me it would be nice thanks guys. Hunter
A staging area can be any where from the edge of the woods or way back in. It is an area the deer will stage waiting on darkness to fall before comming to a food source. It can sometimes be close to a bedding area or just a place they feel safe going to and hanging out or browsing before going to where they are intending to go. Hope this helps!!
Good description dink! Staging areas have been great to me right before the rut. Generally when the bucks are starting to get interested, but the does are still more worried about feeding. Any place where multiple trails that lead to a food source converge is usually a pretty good bet to be a staging area. Also, a small food source, 1/2 acre apple orchard, small oak flat, etc, can serve as staging areas as well!
Indeed.... I have been able to find them by identifing were a trail enters a food plot and then following it back into the woods....when you find a place that feels like a "room"...you've found it... SB
