They are really a personal preference. They are not required on a bow but they will/can help with balance, vibration dampening and noise reduction. Obviously this will depend from bow to bow. Everyone that responds to your post will respond for different reasons. Some for brand loyalty, some for looks and some for function. I would find a shop that might let you try a few and determine if you need/want one then decide for yourself based on the above reasons.

^^^This^^^ I got a Fuse stabilizer before the 2011 G2G, just because I didn't like the one I had before. I don't really know how much it helps, but the bow definitely feels more balanced compared to when I shoot it without the stabilizer on.

I chose an axion 5" stabilizer for my Z7 extreme. Mainly for aesthetics with the gridlock pattern and lost camo. The bow was already well balanced and very quiet with little vibration.

Did you get a chance to try any out of find one that you like yet? Let us know which one if any you decide to go with! I am using the Pine Ridge Nitro stabilizer and really like it! I went with the shorter version then I was used to but it balances my new Helim so much better.
