So I've had a NAP Blackjack for almost two years, and there's a rubber outter jacket on it. The rubber dry-rotted and and broke, so I'm looking into a new stabilizer. I like the LOOKS of the Octane and FUSE stabilizers, but are they really worth the extra cash? Anybody have any reviews or advice on good stabilizers?
For a hunting stabilizer, I really like the Octane's. I've hunted with and recommended the Doinker's for a really long time, but got to try a buddies Octane this summer for an extended period of time. I really think the Octane outperforms the doinker in terms of absorbing vibration, and it also allows you to add and adjust the weight were you really need it, on the end of the stabilizer. I've got a 7" doinker on my current hunting bow, but I'll have a 7" Octane on my next hunting rig.
I'm pretty happy with mine... made by Mr. Jim Posten. I think if I was going to do it again, I would have to get the next size smaller though. I had to take off two of the counter weights at the tip. But over all, this is very nice. I like it. You can find them on AT. EDIT: I have always heard B-Stingers to be great too... Maybe want to check them out... Insert mandatory comment: Go to the local shop, and shoot your setup, with a couple different stabs. Find one you like. Buy it.
7" Doinker with the carbon rods - A-bomb - and weight out front. Down right awesome. They are like $65-$75 and come with stickers to cover them to match the camo pattern on your bow.
I have an 11.5" Octane and while I love the stabilizer (lets face it.... it just looks badass) I think that the Stealth Stabilizers that everybody was praising several years ago are just a better stabilizer... definetly the best that I have used. They are a little heavier and they don't have "the look", but they just flat out work and Jerry is an awsome guy! I have been thinking about picking up a few more lately.
