St. Jude Children's Research Hospital

Hey, folks.

I will be running a full marathon during the St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend in December and in order to help raise funds for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, I have agreed to raise a minimum of $1000 for the kids at St Jude.

As of right now I've raised $742, which leaves me with $258 to go. I was going to wait a little longer to post this again, but something happened recently that made me decide to post it now.

Around two years ago my daughter's boyfriend (at the time) was diagnosed with a rare, very serious cancer. I knew this young man very well as he was a regular at my house. He became a St. Jude patient and suddenly I had a close personal connection with one of our patients. He would stop into my office to visit when he was here for appointments. When he was admitted, I would stop by his room to visit from time to time.

There were a couple of times that they beat the cancer back and it looked like he might make it, but this brave young man lost his battle yesterday morning. Granted, my daughter has been in the Navy for a couple of years now, and they had gone their separate ways, but he still stopped by to visit when he was here. He really was a very strong, courageous young man.

So, I will post this link one more time. If you can donate, then that would be fantastic. If you can't or simply don't want to, that's perfectly fine as well. I just wanted to give some of you who donated last year a chance to do so again.

You have my word that I won't post this again. I might reply to any comments made, but I will not bump this thread up to keep it current. Once it has rolled off into neverland, that will be it. I don't intend to do another auction like I did last year because I'm just being pulled in too many directions at once right now.
