Is anyone else having the same issues with tree rats like I am this season. Everywhere I turn there is another one and another one. I know they are always there and cause problems for all, but this year seems extremely nuts. I hunted them opening weekend here this year for the first time in 13 years. Maybe its karma or something lol.

Haven't been out to verify, but supposedly this was a banner year for acorns. That could explain why the uptick in squirrel activity.

Contrary to what everyone else seems to be seeing, I have had 0 squirrel issues this year, even in areas where there are a lot of oaks/acorns. Maybe 1 to 2 squirrels, and they have yet to truly get on my nerves.

Yep. I have so many in my new spot. Mainly red squirrels and chipmunks. But, did see a black one last night.

Husband sent me this picture this morning...

They seem to be really thick around here too! Such a harmless creature sure can be intimidating. I had one run down the tree a 4-5 ft in front of me the other day. He came out to me on a branch and we had a staring contest. I felt like any second that little bastage was going to jump on me and knock me out of the stand.

I would say it's a good possibility that since not many people hunt them like they used to that their numbers in some places are getting out of control. I keep saying we need to hunt our place for them down in Ohio as they are thick as ever but we just never do.

I love squirrel hunting...I don't have a problem with them this year haha. However, it appears that I need to fine tune my raccoon hunting skills

I was bowhunting opening weekend in upstate NY and I kid you guys not a red squirrel was harassing me. It got to the point where I was throwing sticks at him, he would duck and weave, taunting me!!!!! I should have stuck him to the tree but season isnt open yet!!!
