In Ohio Starts Tuesday along with Dove. Does anyone else use Squirrel season to do some real in depth scouting? I'm not talking about your private pockets, but generally 3000 up to 20,000 thousand acre, public areas. I've found some of my best spots when taking the .22 for a walk. The squirrels seem to be secondary to getting back in the bush and exploring some new territories you may not reach, under normal bow hunting circumstances. I'm stoked to get back in the woods!
Yeah..I knew I'd get that response..or someone commenting on getting back in the woods. I do scouting and exploring in the off-seasons too, but, I'm talking about being in the game with a weapon in hand. It's a different mindset at least for me.
It isn't a response. It is my honest answer. I haven't went squirrel hunting in probably 13 years. Probably won't go again unless lil bucko shows interest in it.
Sept 15th here in MI, and yes I have spent many of fall days chasin squirrels. My gramps makes the best squirrl dinner around.
Ilove chasing those critters with my bow, too much fun! I always have about 4 or so extra arrows with judos just for that reason during the deer season!
I will on occasion squirrel hunt but not on any of my deer hunting properties. It may not effect deer but Im not going to chance it being that close to season
I definetely hunt the squirrels but not in my deer hunting areas. Its one of the best ways to hang out with my kids and teach a little hunting safety and ettiquete. it is great practice for anyone young I think. squirrel and dumplings does sound good.
yeah i dont squirrel hunt on my deer hunting spot...i dont mess at all with those spots unless im checking my camera or checking for different spots to hunt. i did go dove hunting yesterday ....shot 65 dove, me and three other guys....pretty good opening day here in ohio....WEATHER IS FEELING LIKE DEER SEASON THOUGH.
