For home defense I would suggest a short barrel 12 gauge with 00.

If you can shoot it accurately yes. If a body shot doesn't stop them one to medulla will. Only if absolutely necessary that is. Excessive force and all.

I have the XDS in 9MM with 3.3 barrel. It shoots well and conceals really good also. Should do the job for personal defense. If you have bigger hands it comes with an extension for the magazine. I use the one without the extension for concealed carry.

My EDC is an xds .45. Never shot the 9mm version. Our only other compact gun is a Para slim hawg .45. I can barely work the slide on it. :(

Those of you shooting the .45 compacts, can you double tap and have the second round on target? Those have to have some serious snap to them.

I can, but I've had some practice with it. It kicks back, I mean it's a .45. but not as bad as you would think.

To me it is easier to shoot than our full size double stack .45s. It's a great shooting little gun.

I fired a Kahr CT .45 and struggled with an accurate follow up. For that reason I won't carry a compact .45. I figure, I know my limitations.

I didn't like the Kahr when I shot it either. If I could shrink my Sig Legion and make it a little smaller, I wouldn't carry another gun the rest of my life. Word of advice, unless you want to buy it, don't shoot it.

I have the Shield 9mm and love it. That was until we started looking for a cc for my wife and we looked at the Sig 238 (.380) Extreme... A buddy let us barrow it, WOW for a little gun it feels awesome in the hands. The Sig 938 is the 9mm version and if I could do it over, I would have bought this instead of the Shield.

The 938 is a nice gun.

I used to have a sig p238. Traded it off because I was trying to downsize the different caliber pistols I owned. Decided to sell or trade off everything that wasnt 9mm.

    Really liked the 238 though.

So you're familiar with the sig. why not go with the 938? Just want something completely different?

I did not want a safety on my carry piece. The 938 is also a bit thick in the grip from the panels.

True. It being a little thicker is why my wife and I will be getting her the 238.

Not a bad pistol, but I traded mine for the S&W M&P shield. A much nicer pistol for Concealed carry. Depends on what you're wanting to use it for I suppose.

I believe the 238 and 938 have the same width grip.

It wasn't that it was to wide or anything, I was just looking for a slim, non safety poly pistol this time around.

If you want a P238 for a really good price, send me a PM. I've got a really nice barely used one for sale.
