I am fortunate enough to have married a woman that likes to go out and hunt in a buddy stand with me on occasion. We just got married 2 weeks ago. Last year She went with me when she could. Opening day and it was my first ever hunt, she was in the blind with me. Three does came with in range. They spotted us and unfortunately took off before we got a chance to shoot. We hunted together five or six more times. I am now setting up my old bow for her to start shooting. She shot my old one several times last year and actually did great. She may not be ready to bow hunt this year but, she will be ready for the 30-30. I am hoping to put her on at least one. I figured if I could get her to go with me some last year we would not have the problems I have heard others talk about having with their wives in the hunting department and I was right. Do any of you guys on here take your wives with you or does she go on her own? If not has it caused you problems in the past?

I wish, she does like to sit with me if I hunt on her dads property, but thats out of a double ladder stand. I rarely hunt that spot anymore. I would like to get her a bow some day just so she can start shooting, you have to start somewhere!

Both. Usually she sits on her own. If we're together, I'm on video.... that is until she shoots her 1st :tu:

I was with a girl for 5 years that enjoyed hunting and always wanted to be included. Now I am married to a girl who likes the outdoors but has zero interest in hunting.

After comparing the two (hunting interest wise) I'll take the one with no interest any day. It's just nice to have my alone time with myself, my dad or buddies, rather than worrying about taking the spouse along too.

my wife hunts, and shes been hunting longer than i have. this year will be our first year we hunt together. hell, she will probably be able to teach me a few things. only thing she wont do is gut the deer. she was a medic and deployed to iraq around the same time i did, and she gets kinda edgy. but thats no big deal.

lol...that was my first thought also

My wife, despite being hard as nails and an amazing mom has zero interest in being: cold, hot, tired from getting up early or dealing with bugs.

So I hunt, and she does what she does.

Your a lucky man Danno! My wife does not care to hunt or even like venison.
She does look forward to me getting out of the house during the Wi gun season for some reason..lol

Yeah, I participated in that program for a while and had a whole lot of fun but, I found my trophy and mounted her.

My wife helps with every part. Last year was my first season and she jumped right in there with me. Hunting, tracking blood trails (even if she was in bed and I lost a blood trail she would get up and help me find it. She can spot a blood drop the size of the tip of a ball point pin under a leaf), dragging out, gutting and processing, and she cooks everything from roast to jerky. She loves deer season. Not quite as much as I do but, she doesn't complain when I hunt every Saturday, Sunday and all the weekdays I get a chance. I wouldn't have it any other way.

That's great man, she sounds like a hell of a woman. Mine actually likes to ride motorcycles and snowmobiles. So when I'm out hunting, she's probably out doing her thing too. We intend on sharing our interests at some point but we don't have the means to outfit the other person with the gear they'd need yet.

Mine prefers the kitchen to the outdoors which works out well for the both of us!! Although it would be nice to show her what I spend all fall doing. Good luck!

Once or twice a year she will go sit with me just to hang out...I actually like the fact she does not hunt, and supports my hunting. I got two little ones who I hope love to do it, but the wife and i do everything together except my hunting and her hobby...

I am glad it works for some of you, but i have a few buddies who have to wait on the wife, cant go until she does etc...and even one co-worker (female) who has to wait on her husband, and man does it piss her off.

My wife and I had quite a few deer to drag on only her second deer hunt this season...We will be married for 6 years in a few days...She has always ventured out with me to share some time in the wods but this time she got her safety course and license and practiced until she felt confident enough to do it herself....
She went first and shot a doe....I smoked a doe too....That would have been enough, and we let the stuff down.....we could only retrieve her bow(no camera unfortunately) when the 8 point walked in at the edge of darkness.....She did her thing and we ended up with three......I am proud of her and appreciate the fact that she gives me my time and will also share it with me!!! Love that girl!!!
I am at work so I dont have my pics with me....here is a link to my blog with pics!!!
