Bow Hunting Etiquette- when it comes to public land. As my son and I were scouting out a nice place to put my Treestand we discovered a ground blind, it made me think that possibly we should move about 300 to 600 yards down the trail which we do, but at the same time I'm curious did we move far enough.

IMO 300 yards is plenty far enough.
I've hunted Desoto National Wildlife Refuge near Blair NE several times where you have hunters set up within 100 yards of you.
Very annoying, but 300 yards is a pretty good distance.

That's plenty far enough if you are happy with it. In PA some guys think 30-40 yards is far enough. More than once over the years hunting public land I've had guys walk in right at day light, see me in my tree, and proceed to climb a tree 40 yards away.

300 yards is enough but the farther the better IMO.But when setting up you have to think about where there wind is going and make sure it's not ruining your hunt.
