Anyone here do any spot and stalk hunting? I live in west Texas, got a good bit of thick pasture and often times when hog hunting I will see deer well within bow range. I see a lot of stand hunters here, but what about spot and stalk?

I do a lot of spot and stalk on one of the properties i hunt. Its a thick swamp with a few open areas.

I guess it depends on who you are, I am a very small person and my sneaking skills are pretty good (not to brag, I promise!!). But I think it could be a viable option for bow hunting but is not talked about a whole lot on here. I would like to know more about it if anyone is experienced with it!

95 % of bowhunting here in Australia is spot and stalk mate. A few blokes are starting to use stands for deer but thats about it

I use about as much spot and stalk as I do stand hunting. It's very open here with few trees

I can't seem to kill deer from a tree...def not gonna get ph the ground and give them the advantage lol. That's just me though. I am hoping to get into stalking other game like bear and hogs.

One of my favorite ways to hunt in New England woods is rainy days, go slow and look as far ahead as possible. When you see deer [usually feeding] you keep a tree between you and thier line of sight and try to get close. I've pulled it off a couple of times but usually get caught by the one I didn't see......dang whistleblowers!
