It will never be a waste of money in my mind. I spot and stalk mule deer and never used a camera on them yet but am going to put my cams out there. If you start now and put the cams out in areas you see animals moving towards food you should get a good chance at getting pics of animals in the area. I just like being able to see pics of potential animals in the area and watching them grow. It's very addicting.

What would you recommend for a camera? Are they fairly simple to use? We have a digital camera and I can get pictures off that and put them on my computer, are they pretty similar to that?

They are all the same in terms of getting pics off of the camera and putting them on your computer. All you have to do is load them off of the SD card. Each camera is different however, in how they are programmed, but the ones I have tried have all been relatively simple. I use the bushnell Trophy cam and its a great cam. Middle of the pack in terms of price, but has great battery life, uses AA batteries which is a big bonus, and has good picture quality and good trigger speed. The Tasco cams seem to be good for a cheaper cam. Also the Cuddebacks all seem to have good reviews.
