During the shutdown virtual sports have stepped in. ESPN with virtual Horse tournaments and Fox holding virtual auto racing, which ultimately ended the career of one of the more promising stars of NASCAR. Soon major sports will start opening back up. NBA and MLB seem to be the ones willing to do so first, albeit without fans in attendance. The XFL has been tanked once again as a result of it, and Golf may play the Masters in November but it will not be a Major win for the eventual winner, but may have 2 Masters in 2021 as well as one or two others. Figured start a new thread primarily for sporting events as they open and predictions on whether lack of fan attendance will be impactful or not. Going to be an odd 2nd half of 2020 after an already horrible start to the first half.
on the MLB (baseball) channel (213 Direct TV), they were playing classic ball games, nail biters and come from behind games .... I watched several .... havnt been on it for a week so I dont know what they have now ... one good one was the '92 Playoff final game, Pirates vs Braves ... Braves came from behind in the bottom of the 9th to win it to go to the World Series (They lost ) ... great game !! ... I love watching the old names/players ...
Not just pro think about AAU basketball or baseball for kids in the summer. I know the spring soccer leagues already canceled the seasons here in Michigan.
Your year reference is off. The Blue Jays won the World Series in '92 and '93. I know because I had both posters on my bedroom wall as a kid.
Yeah, I was mainly talking about sports that are postponed and not outright canceled. Seems while the younger generation(s) are least likely to have adverse reactions they took the brunt of the adverse reactions from the shutdowns as far as schooling and acedemics.
NFL draft from the commissioners basement next week. I wonder if they will pump in fake audio boo’s when he steps up to the microphone? Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Baseball will be back on 7/4/2020 with no fans in attendance and all of America will rejoice that Americas greatest pastime is back on that glorious holiday (that's my hope anyway).
My guess will be sooner, Trump will push for opening baseball back up. Just for the mental aspect of getting life back to normal.
Well that would please me greatly. I love going to the ball park, love watching the between inning toss around the outfield, wish they let fans in for batting practice I would go a couple hours early to watch.
No, I was correct, the Braves went to the World Series and lost to Toronto ... the Braves beat Pittsburgh in the final playoff game to make it to the World Series ... MLB network ranks the Pittsburgh/Atlanta game the 4th best of all time ...Game 7 of the 1992 NLCS marked the first time (and to date, still the only time) in MLB history that a team which was one out away from losing in a winner-take-all game of a playoff series instead won on the last pitch The 1992 World Series was the championship series of Major League Baseball's (MLB) 1992 season. The 89th edition of the World Series, it was a best-of-seven playoff played between the American League (AL) champion Toronto Blue Jays and the National League (NL) champion Atlanta Braves. Toronto defeated Atlanta four games to two, marking the first time a team based outside the United States won the World Series.[1] The Blue Jays remain the only Canadian team to have appeared in, and won, a World Series (which they would do again the following year, in 1993).[A] The 1992 World Series was the first World Series in which games were played outside the United States.[3]
I STILL boycott the NFL .. piss on 'em ..... havnt watched 5 seconds since Kaperdink mouthed off ....
