While this is all true and I again agree Dan my underlying point is this... If I had killed that deer under the same circumstances I would have recieved the same sentence as him as well as would have done some jail time up front. Not after violating my probation. The jail time comes largely from violating the Lacey Act. More so than the killing of the deer. Most often in KS any type of poaching violation results in the confiscation of the animal, the weapon used to harvest the animal, and often times (8 out of 10 I'd say) your vehicle. You will loose your hunting rights for a few years as well as probation. That is just the way it works here. I know because I hear these stories EVERY year, largely because my cousin and good friend is a Game Warden. Is that sentence a lil over the top in general??? Perhaps
How is Dan getting pissy? At least to anyone other than you? All I see here is an adult conversation between two individuals.
And I only said he got off easy due to comparing him to your average Joe. I believe if he wasn't Spook Spam he would have gotten hit harder in the beginning. There was a story about 2 weeks ago here about 2 out of state boys who got busted last year running dogs on deer in western KS. They killed multiple deer each none of which they had a valid tag for. One of the brothers got somethin like 2 years in prison, the other got 5. Both lifetime bans seriously heavy fines and bout everything they own confiscated.... Just an example
Show me where I got pissy because someone disagreed with me. Waiting Waiting Waiting Still Waiting That's right, it's not there. You know exactly why I got "pissy."
I once charged a woman for attmpted malicious wounding when she premeditatively twice rammed a stationary vehicle that was twice occupied, one time at 40mph.. On of the strikes a guy was getting into the drivers seat and was thrown about 15 feet into the woods. The woman received 5 total days in jail and her charge was ammended to assault and battery. So yeah I can see where he might "only" get 30 days in jail for taking kids hunting without a license. You guys might be surprised at the number of violent and rotten crimes people commit where you live. 30 days served on the weekends might be the right sentence o.pared to all he other stuff going on out there these days combined with overcrowded jails.
Thats where we disagree. I believe he was only charged because of who he was. As for the other guys, they knew what they were doing and repeatedly did it. The two crimes don't even compare. Their jail sentences are extreme, IMO. Some dude can fondle multiple little boys and he won't even get that. Sad world when we hold animals in a higher regard than children.
That is a crazy story but um.... not sure you read the article, or followed the story previously, this has nothing to do with taking kids hunting without a license
What are folks issue with Spook, first time I have heard of him. Just watch him hunt he does not seem like a bad dude. Do I win a prize if I can name the jack-Wagon of the thread after I read through it
We will just agree to disagree on the first point... Second point... we will never know if Spook was in fact truly ignorant about the guidelines of his tags. As for the other guys clearly they had a complete disregard for the law. The point I was trying to make is the severity of the sentencing under Kansas law when it comes to poaching. I couldn't agree more that it often seems skewed, I won't even begin to explain my feelings toward sex crimes or any crimes of that nature and how I feel about those circumstances or IMO what punishment should be in those cases. Certainly a valid point that you are making.
Either join the conversation about Spook like an adult or quit making an *** of yourself. Your choice.
