Sorry 12 hour days at the shop right now doesn't leave much time for forum trolling. But a 10 hour ride in the truck does Besides I posted it better even got Dan in on it to stir the pot.
I agree. The other part was ticky tack BS. But, he violated his probation any way you slice it. He either thinks he is above the law, or is a really slow learner.
Well, when someone makes a stupid *** comment about me, I just may come off as a bit grumpy in my reply.
Now now Dan, don't be a hypocritical moderator by cursing considering you gave me a temporary ban for bad language.....just sayin
Really? You got banned for calling people names and using swear words in them. Swear if you want, the forum has a filter to block those words. Now, let me ask again, do you have anything to add to the topic at hand? I was discussing it with other people and now have to get sidetracked by replying to stupid posts like yours.
My apologies he could have bought a gen non res tag along with his landowner tag. If he was unable to draw said tag then he clearly ends up being limited to his own property. Poaching whether it be outright blatant poaching or circumstances like these are a very quickly growing problem around here. And FTR if I put my self in his shoes under the circumstances that I am aware of from that day I can absolutely understand how a guy could get caught up in the moment and make a bad decicion to kill that deer 200+ inch deer have a way of clouding judgment. But that doesn't change the outcome of his case, he got nailed for it, got off with essentially a slap on the wrist yet still couldn't abide by the simple terms set for him. I know of no other case where this would happen and the judge wouldn't apply the controlling sentence was the terms of probation were broken. Most other instances that I am aware of especially when regarding the Lacey act, would result in jail time at the intitial sentencing.
No prob. Anyways, my issue isn't the original charge. It's what he was charged with in his probation violation. The only one that is any kind of a bad thing is the baiting of turkeys. I just don't see that as constituting 30 days in jail for. We have people who do a lot worse and don't spend any time in jail. I also find it funny how so many people on here seem to hate him so much, calling him a scumbag poacher. In my eyes, the only reason you people feel this way is because of the size of the buck and because he has a horrendous intro to his show.
But onto the topic, he did break the rules with the baiting so he deserves what he gets. Some folks really hate this guy it seems, I just think he makes stupid decisions and has a terrible intro to his show!
When someone tells the whole forum not to try to reason with me, I think I have the right to be a little pissed off about it. Then try to accuse me of banning them for other reasons than they were banned, in an effort to try making me look bad, I again have every right to be pissed. I don't know if I'm stuttering or taking to fast for you, but let me ask you again....Do you have anything to contribute to the topic at hand or not?
I agree with Dans post and generally speaking it's best to do everything by the book especially when in the public eye and killing 200"+ deer.
From my understanding of the original case, he leased the land he shot the deer on but was mistaken that he could use his tag on that buck. Again though, make it a 130" buck or a doe and we would have never heard a thing and no one would give a rats behind.
I understand that, however the baiting of the turkey was one part of the violation of probation. Does baiting turkeys in itself warrant 30 days in jail?? NO Does the original charge?? ABSOLUTELY and then some. Once the probation violation occurs he is held to the controlling sentence of the original charge. Therefore he didn't get jail for baiting turkey he got jailed for illegal harvest and violating federal law. 30 days is fairly light in that respect IMO And I agree people seem to just not like the guy, personally I don't know him or his show only the story of his case.
True, landowner / tenant tags in KS have very specific guidelines. One of which ,when talking about leased property, states that in order to qualify you must have the management / agricultural reponsibilities of the property. If this isn't specifically outlined in the lease contract you are in violation. Always important to know exactly what tag you are buying and any restrictions that might apply. I also agree if it were a 130" deer and or he wasn't who he is... we wouldn't be having this conversation.
We'll just disagree because I don't think the original sentence should have been probation. A fine? Sure. Confiscation of the rack? Sure. Income garnished that he made from the video? Sure. Probation? No. And to think some people on here think he got off light. It's just a deer people, lets put this much energy into pursuing serious crimes, like the child molesters that get away with slap on the wrist.
Oh grow up Dan, god forbid someone doesn't agree with you and you get all pissy. Pretty funny how butt hurt you got over me joking by saying don't try to reason with you.
Agreed 100%. He is paying for his original crime. If he didn't shoot the buck, there would be no probation, therefore no violations or jail time.
