I have only shot my new bow a few times. (No arrows yet:bash: ) I have used split 3 for shooting and it feels comfortable. (although I do not even have a glove yet, bare fingers) Just wondering, what are the advantages/disadvantages of shooting one way or the other? I may toy with both after I get my arrows and all set up. What do you guys say?

Personal preference I believe. Some people like looking down the arrow for aiming purposes so 3 under would work out better for that being your eye Is lined up closer to your arrow then It would be at split finger. I shoot 3 under, It has nothing to do with looking down the arrow for me. I don't even look down my arrow, I just feel more comfortable shooting 3 under. I think I get better releases that way.

I shoot 3 under with a pretty deep hook! I can't really get comfy with the split finger. I've tried and tried but to no avail, I'll miss by a mile!

I go 3-under as well, always have, dont see a reason to change! I have messed around split but like Steve the release never felt very clean, so I went back to 3-under!

Split for me, it just feels more natural.Add to that when I test shoot the bows I make it helps hold the arrow in place because there is no nock on the string:deer:

But like Steve said it's basicly personal preference.

Split for me. When I re-entered the trad world I tried 3 under for an entire year and never could get used to it, so I went back to how I learned 20 years ago. Split gives me a much better release.

RE the change for tiller & stuff, from what I've gathered in the long run it doesn't really matter. Yes a bowyer will ask how you shoot & make it for that style, but if you shoot the other way, a small nock adjsutment should allow you to shoot just fine and not really know the difference.

True, not always the case. I've shot both ways and not had to change any of my bows.

The first bow I ever shot or hunted with was a recurve at age 12 and 13 years old, I shot split, since thats what dad showed me. 20 some odd years later after getting back into a recurve .. Split immediately just felt comfortable/right, and I like a glove over a tab. Personal preference

I'm not sure Jeff, just never had to change nothing. Maybe my anchor point changed a tad switching between the 2.
