I would like to know if there is a huge difference from one to the other. At some point I figured Mathews might switch the design back to solid limbs because that’s just what happens in design strategies. Do you feel they would or are split limbs a clear winner in the bow’s mechanics?
it seems to me they squeeze a lot more speed out of split limb bows. I loved my z7x but it was no speed demon. I'm no engineer but with today's cam technology short split limb bows generate a lot more energy than solid limb bows...I wonder if the wider limb can't take the energy or something.
Split limbs can be preloaded much much further than solid limbs which equals more energy, All modern speed bows are split limbs. Also the newer style split limbs are very wide with bulletproof limb pockets and for me they offer more lateral stability and shoot very well!
Solid limbs just don't have the energy required for the direction that a lot of bow companies seem to be heading.
I asked the same question on a different forum and this was the response I got. With the size of the cams that some of these companies are putting out, a solid limb bow just isn't possible. I am a big fan of the solid limb Elites and have no plans to "upgrade" to their new split limb varieties. Meat
I've always shot a little better with solid limbs...but now have a new bow with split limbs, so as the temp warms here a little before spring I'll start shooting and getting it ready for this years hunts...I'll let ya know...
