This is my first post but want to say thank you to Todd and the rest of the BH.com members. I have enjoyed all that i have been reading and appreciate the passion everyone has. And nothing has got me more pumped than what Todd and Justin and all the staff members bring with the video segments - have made reruns of all seasons.
I'm easing into this and have shot casually in the back yard, but this will be my first go at bowhunting. After all i've read and heard from bowhunters, the Spitfire line is arguably the best for a newbie like me. I have read the specs on the Maxx and Edge. With the slight variation in the two broadheads, if you had to go with one for deer, which would you choose and any technical reasons why would be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

Welcome to the site! First can I ask what you're shooting?

I should have included my equipment in my account. Thanks.

    Apache drop away rest
    Easton blood line 330/8.7gpi
    blazer vanes
    100gr field points
a few things that i'm juggling: cut on contact tip vs trophy tip, and serrated vs straight edge.
I walked out of the proshop hitting 300fps with the field tips and i hope to be within 35yds max when i draw down on my first.
I'm hitting consistent groups at 25yds and confident in a kill zone at 40yds, although i know i'm aiming at a speed bag vs the real thing.
Not sure i can go wrong with either broadheads but appreciate your thoughts.
    thanks

I gotta check because you never know when someone is gonna try to shoot a big cutting mechanical with a 20 year old bow and little dinky arrows lol. Honestly I don't think you could go wrong with either head. I like the durability of the trophy tip but I also like having a straight edge because they're easier to sharpen, but you can't get that combo unless you're shooting easton deep six arrows with a deep six spirtfire maxx. I went ahead and went with the spitfire maxx, but really it all comes down to your personal preference. I've never shot an animal with them yet but they fly great and since you've seen the bowhunt or die episodes, you should know how well they work. Either way they're gonna put a deer down for ya!
