Went on a recent hunt with the crew of Team UOA in N. Dakota ... going after my first velvet buck. Great experience all around! Beautiful terrain, more deer than I've ever seen in a 3-day span ... and great folks to share camp with. In the end, we knocked down 4 P&Y bucks over 4 days of hunting ... and I got my "velvet buck". Spitfire MAXX did a number on my buck! Here are a couple different video clips from the hunt: http://www.teamuoa.com/ (mouse over the video, click on the "vimeo" logo at the bottom of the vid clip, and it will open the larger video on Vimeo) or http://vimeo.com/14828884
Thanks everyone. It was an amazing trip up to North Dakota. God willing, I'll go back as often as I can. Rack should be getting freezedried to preserve the velvet, then headed my way for a trip to the taxidermists ... hopefully here soon. Anyway, mine wasn't the only buck taken during the hunt. We had a lot of success within the camp. There are some photos of some of the other bucks on the NAP blog if you want to check them out: www.newarchery.com/blog
Nice shot and that was a nice gusher you had working there. I bought some SF MAXX for turkeys and I have always liked the quality of the spitfires, just think they require too much to open for low energy setups like mine. I might shoot a deer with my turkey setup just to see how I like them.I am sure they will get the job done but I highly doubt they will give me the same penetration my 150 grain Magnus Buzzcuts do.:D Has anyone ever tried to remove the retention clip in the spitfires and use a rubber band like the Rockets use? Seems like this would require much less energy to open the blades than the metal clip.Just a thought I had.
