Spin off of ghost stories thread: Anyone ever had a "UFO" experience??

Definitely another species. Of course we were that species once aswell. Haha

 

I am a little confused. Some are totally certain, 100% sure, that alien life exists out there somewhere, even with no objective proof. Yet at the same time, have a problem with the existence of God because there is no objective proof. What did I miss?

 

Some...i dont know who some is? Is he a member here? Lets not beat around the bush...which individual is in question? (This could be fun )

My $.02... While I don't believe in the Christian version of god, I tend to lean more in favor of a greater force in exsistence responsible for the creation of the universe as we know it. That being said, I also believe the law of probability is in the favor of our Earth not being the only planet to hold life, whether intellegent or not (also, this is using out man made definition/idea of intelligence), maybe we are the 'non-intellegent' ones from another perspective.

One thing is for sure... Space is big... Can you just imagine... if someone did "create" all that... I.E. Merely spoke it into existence, wow! How big that Someone must be? Okay, I know, I know... I am getting all philosophical and we are just supposed to be having fun.

They forced me to ingest their "cookies" and then made me hula hoop.
It was horrifying.

 

When I was young, maybe 10 or 11 I was in bed looking out the window. My neighborhood had (back before overdevelopment) a HUGE cornfield that backed right up to it. From my house to the field was probably about 100 yards. I was looking out over that cornfield when I saw the stereotypical UFO. It was disc shaped and had like 5-7 red lights that were revolving around it. It was just kind of hovering slowly over the cornfield. I got out of bed and stood at the window watching it move for like 30 seconds. Then for some reason I got really scared and ran back to my bed and pulled the covers over my head.


The next day like 3 out of my 10 or so close neighborhood friends were talking about it because they had seen it too.


I was 110% convinced it was an alien UFO until about 4 years ago. I saw a blimp that had a lit up digital message scrolling across it that looked very similar. Then last year I got into R/C helicopters and saw some of the night flight rigs the guys on helifreaks.com had and it could very well have been an RC heli with lights on it too.


THAT SAID.... I'm just now realizing this was 1992 or so and I don't know how much digtal blimp advertising or LED lit R/C helicopters there were... hmmmmmmm

12 years of Catholic School will do that to a guy. It'll also make you question everything. I'm fortunate I was able to come out of there with an open mind.

 

How would the discovery of life on other planets affect the religious?

 

I grew up in the church and began questioning everything too. Still do, concerning the "church," and worship, and such things that turn so many people off. Gets me in trouble sometimes.
