While checking trail cameras on Monday, I made a different approach to one location and found a scrape about 15 yards from where I had my camera. I carried my laptop in the woods since I'm running low on SD cards and found this guy. Obviously I moved my camera to the scrape but my question is...do you think I should just let the scrape remain natural or should I add my Magnum Scrape Dripper with Tink's Power Scrape and spice things up? I guess my fear is that I will scare off any deer that may be using it[IMG]

Personally I would monitor him with your cam and not do anything just yet because you know he is there at this point and he is hitting that scrape. I have in the past pushed bucks away showing dominance over there scrape and had too start all over again but they usually just start another scrape not far away if it does happen. Sometimes less is better with bucks and the element of suprise is always best I think unless I know I have a dominant buck or mature buck thats territorial and I see that on cam by tore ears or broken points or? . I am no pro and maybe someone else can give ya better advice but thats what works for me.

I personally prefer to leave natural scrapes alone and let them do their thing. In my experience they're plenty effective without us adding any scents into them.

I would leave it alone. I'd be afraid of scaring them away since it is an active scrape.

I agree with the others. Let them do their thing. Save the power scrape for another area.

Alright, thanks guys. When I go back to check the cam in a week or so I'll post the pics to this thread

Years ago behind my house I found a small natural scrape. I had some Bob Kirschner's (if you aren't familiar with him he's a local Western PA guy) Silver Top Gel that he had sent me when I ordered some videos. So I threw some of that in there. a few days later it was torn up and 5 times the size. The bucks did not like another outsider coming in and scenting it up.

I know do that every time I find a new scrape when I am hunting by it.

I would try to find another scrape within the area and then put your own mock scrape between the two. Not only will this create a scrape line of sorts but it won't interfere with the natural ones.

That's what I was thinking Spear. Perhaps when I check cams again, I will make one about 20 yards away and see what happens.

In my option I have had success just leaving the scrape alone

Well, I said I would post pics that I got from the scrape..but didn't get any for what ever the reason; maybe too much scent left behind. Anyways, I started a mock scrape like yall suggested so maybe I'll have some for next week but they'll be in the trail cam section

Keep this thread updated, I am curious to see if you have any luck with this. What did you use to make the mock?

I made the mock scrape about 50 yards down the creek, left it for 3 weeks in a Magnum Scrape Dripper with Tinks Power Scrape but didn't have any luck. I thought I took all of the right precautions by wearing rubber boots and rubber gloves when handling everything, so the only thing I can assume is that the deer didn't like it or they liked theirs more
