I'm a retired Indiana police officer.....that is quite a hefty fine. While our maximum here is $1,000 unless you are running Mach3 you would never receive a fine like that.

State tickets are definitely expensive. That sucks. Lesson learned though huh.

    accident

it was an accident. i was fiddling with my center console and the 70mph turned into a 45mph. when i was done messing with my cars center console i lucked up to slow down because i realized what part of the highway i just reached.(i know the area pretty well). bam! i saw the cop, she saw me and it was a ticket for 70 in a 45. 25 over in texas is 200 bucks plus a 97 dollar court fee.

300 bones? Any chance you can get it reduced by showing up in court?

    OUCH!!!!!!!!!
Could have been worse after you were done fiddling with the middle console you could have found yourself and your vehicle in the rear of another vehicle.

    Sorry about your luck

25 miles over here is Reckless Driving. If your record is good Id go to court and see if the Judge will reduce it for you. My Daughter just went through this and got it waived because she had a good driving record. But that was 10 over not 25.

Coming from Chicagoland where you either speed or you're an azzhat... it only took me a couple days to get a speeding ticket when I moved to Central, slower, Illinois.

The cop acted like he was having kittens when he told me I was doing 78 in a 55. (my initial thought was "good thing I saw him and was riding the brakes.")

Still, it only cost me 90.00.

Living down here (and gas prices) really put a damper on my speeding days. Heck, I used to lock in my cruise control at 88mph when I wasn't in a hurry on the highway. ;)

I was thinking the same thing, hell I got a 19 over and it was only $115 including court costs!!!!

Sounds like the Judges are OVERPAID!!!! You didn't try to show her a bulging bicep or a hairy chest to get out of it even????

    ill see

ill try to lower it. i think if i go to court ill be able to get it lowered. i have not had a ticket in about 4 years now. i got two speeding tickets about 4 years ago in the same week. i was living in a small mountain town in northern idaho and leaving town its wide open and the speed goes from 25-35-45-55-65. so when i got to the wide open area i went from 35 to about 50 and got pulled over. the cops in that town just watched this area because it is a one road town.
