Glad to hear that slow isnt so bad!! Through the chrono I was 290fps (Z9 65lbs), I do shoot a heavier arrow and have always been a fan of a heavy hitting arrow with penetration vs light and fast. I guess comfort takes the win!!!

I like looking at the big picture, that is- does your bow take care of business? Is that animal not gonna run far after the shot. My hoyt vipertech is a 2004 model, but it fits me perfect, my draw is 27 1/2 inches. the bow is quiet, smooth, shoots 272 fps and lays the hammer down on deer, especially with NAP 2- blade bloodrunners of course!

Speed has its place and so does comfort. When you optimize both you gain confidence. With confidence you become a formidable killer. However, it doesn't stop there. You still need to pierce an animal's defensive perimeter and gain distance within your effective range. As In da Woods alluded to, neither speed nor comfort makes you an effective indian. Both are merely pieces of the whole pie...

I adjust speed to species. Some need more and some need less.

I chased speed for awhile because it was cool to try new stuff. I will now shoot a comfortable bow from here on out. probably a 60lb bow, maxed out with close to a 400 gr arrow. Should still shoot pretty quick, and remain pretty quiet as well.
