Well, you see if I drop my arrow weight 22 grains and pick up 8fps I will be shooting 85.61lbs of kinetic energy. With my old setup I'm shooting 85.33lbs kinetic energy, so that means I'm shooting faster with more kinetic energy. Plus through a hook up that means I get to shoot a better arrow with better FOC for cheaper than the arrow I shoot now. To me that equals a performance gain.
No, it will not happen that way. In the real world, not online calculators, bow efficiency will increase as the arrow weight increases. This means ke and momentum will increase with a heavier arrow. Remeber, the 8 fps gain was just an ESTIMATE. 1 fps can sway ke one way or the other. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
Your foc will not go up more than a couple percentage points. If your at 9% or below, there may be a slight difference in arrow forgiveness. This is dependent upon your setup. Meaning, you would have to be borderline to too low now. Usually when one is playing the foc card, we are looking for substantial gains. We try to get in the 20%+ foc area. It's a mute point with Ke in the mid 80's. Would prefer getting run over by a mack or peterbilt semi? Both produce the same grease spot.
True, and if your in the 50's ,nothing beats a well designed broadhead. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
yeah 8 fps second was just an estimate. if you have that much power i would look into upping your arrow weight. it will give it more momentum which means the arrow is harder to stop, therefore it penetrates better.
I have no problem with penetration I shoot a 9 quartering away last year at 41 yards. It went in right in front of the back ham and came out the opposite shoulder. I personally don't want to drop in weight, but I can get a killer deal on some arrows that are lighter and way better then what I shoot now. In my opinion there is a fine line between speed and kinetic energy. Yes, you want a heavy arrow for that punch, but I also want a arrow that is fast so the deer doesn't have as much time to react to the shoot.
I see no reason not to get an arrow for that reason. The weight should be a non factor when only talking 20 grains. Unless like what I stated before. You are trying to build a high foc arrow. Take 20 grains iff the arrow and add 75-100 up front would yield some great foc. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
The arrows I am looking into are the Gold Tip Pro Hunters 7595 and I am not trying to build a high FOC. I am just trying to get it a little better then what it is now. What arrows do you shoot tfox?
Until You exceed 1120 fps(The speed of sound) it does not matter. My guess is the lighter arrow will create more decibels upon release anyway. I shoot a 380 grain setup@303fps shooting 60 lbs. Always complete passthrus on deer.
I stick with easton arrows. I know when I build them up that they will be within spec and tune to perfection. I used easton acc prohunters last year and I'm going to be using the easton axis this year with 75 gr brass insert and 150 heads. Even with factory wraps, I'm getting 19% foc. They weigh right at 500 gr and fly awesome. Shot 5 up at my last and only 3d shoot this year. This is out of a 57# setup with a whopping 230 fps. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
