This is really a question? Does you no good if you cant hit what you are aiming at.

What would make a "speed" bow acceptable for accuracy? I can keep 3 arrows in about 2.5" at 45 yards with a bow shooting IBO 355. I am fascinated with speed and think that accuracy would be good.

I would say speed, because with practice is accuracy.

Accuracy is number #1 but I'd rather have an accurate speed bow than an accurate slow bow. If you miss judge yardage with a fast bow, because the pin gap is tighter and the arrow is traveling faster you won't miss your mark near as bad than if you were shooting a slow bow. Also, I like good ke.

What good is speed without accuracy and why would I need to choose one or the other?

Definitely accuracy. No questions asked. You can play around with arrow and broad head weights a little bit to get the most speed but the minute u lose accuracy go back to what u had before. I don't care how fast a bow is, if you cant hit where u want to, theres no use bringing it to the stand with you. Look at archery hunting like you would at shooting bows competitively, you always want to be the most accurate, not the fastest.

You can only choose speed, Accuracy is something you must work on.

if a 3 inch group will get the job done, I'll sacrifice nothing to get a 1 inch group. having hunted with a 160 FPS bow, 260 FPS is better.

I don't get why people think they are mutually exclusive. I shoot a heavy arrow, pretty fast and it's still damn accurate

i could be wrong, but that would be bad marketing on a company that makes one, but. You arnt going to find a compound bow that is "slow". you also arnt going to find a compound bow that is not "Accurate".
the question is what would YOU rather have.
A bow that is going to shoot lightning fast. Or a bow that is going to be very forgiving.
For most of the hunters on this forum. ether one would work fine. shooting from a tree stand or blind no more than 40 yards.
But if you do alot of spot and stalk, and enjoy alot of target archery, and or 3d comps. you would want something more forgiving.
Personally I have no problem sacrificing 30-40 fps to have a nice stable shooting platform. I have even looked at buying the hoyt podium comp elite as a hunting bow. and that shoots at 313 fps. I prefer a longer ATA and a bit more brace hight.
But some guys would rather have a short compact ata and a lightning fast arrow to beat a white tail jumping the string.
the bow i curently have shoots a ibo of 335 and that is as fast as anyone would really need. i dont have much arrow drop I use my first pin for 30 yards and under. and my bottom pin can go out to 130 yards. so its all a matter of personal choice.

Accuracy every single time... My "slow" 40 pound how has shot 4 bucks in 2 years. Half of them being pass throughs. If those are bad numbers someone please stop me there. It's all about shot placement.

You can be incredibly accurate but there is a more important variable when it comes to shot placement, and that is the animals movement. If one of those bucks moved and put his shoulder blade in your arrows path, how confident are you that it's a lethal shot? My 470 grain arrow going 287 fps is blowing through that every time. Therein lies the difference.
