Oh, I'd imagine it is only a matter of time. Guys like that will undoubtably feel the need to show it off, word will spread and they'll get caught. Its all over the news around here.
Surely it wasn't the deer pictured?! I refuse to believe that deer was worth anywhere near $50K+. I don't care for deer farms but I find it pretty gross that any D-bag would do this. I'd have no mercy for a wanker I caught doing such a thing. I hope the perp/s are nailed hard.
and now the local archery shop has been robbed..... WTH 30 hunting bows stolen from Wichita business | Local News - Home
Agreed, in my opinion. Not sure how Kansas words their description of captive deer but a lot of places you don't even need a license because as you state they are not wild game, just penned animals just like livestock. This was a stolen animal...similar to if someone killed and stole a stud bull...except a lot more value sadly in the penned deer community. *Also TJ if that deer is worth 50k...you need to start hunting with a tranquilizer gun bahaha!
By definition it is indeed poaching... go troll somewhere else poach [pohch] IPASyllables Examples Word Origin verb (used without object) 1. to trespass, especially on another's game preserve, in order to steal animals or to hunt. 2. to take game or fish illegally. 3. (of land) to become broken up or slushy by being trampled. 4. (in tennis, squash, handball, etc.) to play a ball hit into the territory of one's partner that is properly the partner's ball to play. 5. Informal. to cheat in a game or contest. verb (used with object) 6. to trespass on (private property), especially in order to hunt or fish. 7. to steal (game or fish) from another's property. 8. to take without permission and use as one's own: "to poach ideas; a staff poached from other companies." 9. to break or tear up by trampling. 10. to mix with water and reduce to a uniform consistency, as clay.
If I sneak on to your farm and kill and take a pig it is still poaching. Hunters seem to think the only definition of poaching is a redneck shooting a deer from the truck. Just isn't the case...
Not trolling at all as Ty stated in his post several states do not require a tag to hunt high fence. Lighten up with playing the troll card, it's called an opinion.
Yup hence the admittance of it is in fact poaching. I agree now, but either way you label it ******bag move and he should be given the book.
High fence has nothing to do with it, as I stated earlier, had they tresspassed and killed a pig it would still be poaching... it isn't about opinion..
We were typing at the same time... sorry.. you see the other link I posted, local pro shop got hit last night also, stole all the bows...
The kids in California that went into the pens and killed over 900 chickens were not charged with poaching, never heard a farmer claiming loss of livestock ever complain about poachers. They killed and stole a mans property and are scumbags. Not knowing how Kansas word their game laws so they could be charged with poaching, but that deer was not wildlife nor a game animal. Not trying to argue but Wikipedia defines poaching to only applying to wild game not livestock.
You're right Snake, I get my letters mixed up. We have a farm in the 6 county area that has had the 6 point restriction removed. I haven't hunted up there since they discovered it. My mistake on the EHD, CWD. Thank you for catching that. fp19
It's fine, a lot of people get it mixed up. Just thought I'd poke at you a little. I'm from the southeast part of the state and CWD hasn't been a problem here yet. There are a few pen raised deer, but not many. I hope it stays that way too. We don't need any CWD containment zones around here.
If the state of Kansas has more grounds for taking property like trucks and weapons for a poaching charge vs simple theft charges I am all for calling it poaching, but that buck was not a game animal it was livestock
