Just wondering if you do anything extra for your kids on special birthdays...13,16,18,21?

My son turns 13 this year and I am thinking about getting him something that he will always remember.

When is his birthday? I don't remember anything really special for 13 but I had a nice car to drive at 16 then. I turn 21 this year so we will see but I can't wait :tu:

Well assuming you already got him set up with a bow... My dad got me set up with a nice fishing rod/gear when I was 13... A beater car when I was 16, and a good talking to when I was 18.

I got my first Covert for my 13th birthday. Best gift I have ever received. Started an addiction on the other hand...

I actually didn't get anything special for 13, 16 got a truck, 18 was preparing for bootcamp, 21 on the other hand I was in Dublin, Ireland. That was a gift to myself though.

Wouldn't know what to do with kids though seeing as don't have any ha

I got a bow on my 18th, but that's about it. I guess I got a Ruger Super Blackhawk .44 magnum for a birthday one year from my grandpa, but I'm not sure what age I was. I think it was my 14th birthday maybe.

On my son's 13th birthday, I paid for his hunter's safety course and attended it with him. On his 14th birthday, he was given his first shotgun. On his 16th birthday, he bought a truck for himself from money he saved and I paid half the first year's insurance on it. On his 18th birthday I was deployed but knew everything at home was okay because I had given him power of attorney (that's how responsible he was). On his 21st birthday we went fishing together and had dinner with him before he went out to celebrate. He called afterwards and let us know that since all his friends were drinking, he didn't so he could make sure they all got home safely.

For my daughter, 13th birthday Mama took her shopping. 16th birthday, sweet sixteen party and Mama gave her my hunting/fishing jeep. 18th birthday we had a huge extended family party and dinner for her. 21st birthday, I was deployed. Both kids - every year now, they come to our house on their birthday and either Mama or me cook up whatever meal they want (most of the time).

My mother used to make meatloaf, mashed potatoes, corn, homemade biscuits and german chocolate cake with coconut pecan icing every year for my birthday. Now that she's gone, I make it for my son because that is what he asks for. I think he does that more for me than himself though. Last year though I made him suffer through prime rib (because I know he loves it). My daughter always wants lobster, abalone, Alaskan king crab, and that sort so Mama makes it.
