One of the guys videoing for me, Craig Heisserer, had his entire setup of gear stolen. He hunted the corner of a cut corn field on his lease in Southern IL yesterday evening. Knowing he was going to hunt the same spot this morning, he left his Muddy camera arm, bow and backpack hanging in the tree. When he arrived this morning it was all gone, along with his Millennium treestand and stick ladder. Obviously some one has been watching them from a distance and knew exactly where he was hunting. Luckily he took his camera home with him. If it wasn't calling for rain, he was going to throw a hood over it and leave it as well. It's still a big loss. I would love to catch some one stealing something of mine one day. I know Craig would like to find this guy.
Yep. Everything. He left his bow in the tree overnight so he didn't have to carry it in again. I've done that a few times myself.
Oh that sucks. If I'm not hunting at the house or the cabin, I keep minimal items in the tree. I know all the neighbors personally at the other places and you can't access those places from the road, so it's pretty safe. If I'm hunting public ground, I may keep my stand mount and a stick or 2 in the tree, but the stand comes down and so do the bottom 2-3 sticks. That sucks, hopefully you guys can check around and recover it.
Wow, that stinks!! I did the exact same thing last weekend, left my entire setup minus my camera, in the tree overnight. Amazing how someone could be watching that closely to know you left all of your gear overnight and then come grab it. Unreal.
This is his lease that he's had for about 10 years now and he knows all the neighbors. He's never had one problem with stolen stands or cameras....anything. I guess we're never safe from thieves.
Ya, i don't think I will ever leave my gear in the stand. But then again I don't have all the camera gear so I just have to take my bow and backpack every time I go out so its not that much.
I'm not sure if they knew he left all his gear. I imagine they were just going in for the stand and got a bonus.
That really sucks. But I'd never leave my bow overnight. Especially last night, it was windy, rainy and snowing here last night.
Must be a nice BUCK in the area and the neighbor doesnt want your friend to kill it. Thats my 2 cents.
I have been a victim of treestand theft 3 times now and it gets more disappointing every time. I hope he is able to bring justice to the low life thieves who took his equipment.
I would be so pissed. Not only did they steal his stuff. He walked out there to hunt and now he can't even do that.
Awful. I had a memory card stolen from one of my trail cameras and I was pretty bummed about that. I can't imagine a $1000 setup being taken.
ouch...that's a pricely loss. PEOPLE SUCK!!! what goes through someones mind when they steal? I mean seriously? what makes them think they can just TAKE something that doesn't belong to them? man I hope karma is a true ***** for this thief
