Take a deep breath, pull back and let 'er fly at the 8 point. There's no guarantees that the 10 point will offer the shot except in my case where he'd walk in and stand there right after my shot.

I'd have to wait. I've had more encounters with 130's than 150's.

I had a simular case a couple of years back i had two buck fighting they were a 90 inch buck and a 70 inch buck. After they broke up the fight the 70 in stepped into my shooting lane and i let it fly dropped him in his tracks ( spined Him) The bigger buck came through and i wanted to kick my self.

Dont get me wrong i was tickled with the 70in buck, it was my biggest buck at the time, (not now)

I'd pass on the smaller buck in this senerio, and wait for the bigger one to come through, if he didn't oh well. I can live with that!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd take the first shot I'm given as it would likely be the only shot I would have at a deer of that age (I'm assuming they are at least 3.5 with that much bone) all season...or should I say the next 5 seasons...or ever. :D

Beat me to it and saved me some typing.

In Mobow's scenario, I'm waiting on the 150.

If chance for shot on the 10 is slim, I'd go ahead and "cull" the 8...lol

    Been here before.

    My first bow buck:

I missed the buck I was targetting all year when my arrow deflected off of a tiny little limb visable only to high power telescopes :). I was bummed, but, got right back in there the next day. I was confident in my scent reducing equipment and tactics- So I went for it.

Around 1600, a beautiful 9pointer strolled in. He made my heart pound, so, I stopped his. Would I have rather shot the monster-YEA, but this buck was beautiful and I'm proud of him.

While I worked my butt off HUNTING the other deer, all year- this deer was still a reward for my efforts.

On another occasion, I had 3 shooters working a small wood-lot. I had a feeling I'd only get a shot on one, but, waited a bit to see what played out.

When it was evident that I would not be getting a shot on the other 2, both happened to be nicer, I dropped the hammer with a 37yard shot. I have never regretted making the decision to take that buck, because- they were all shooters, to me, and I would have been proud of any of them.

I have not been hunting long enough to be THAT specific. If it looks like I may get a shot on the bigger one, I'll wait a bit. If not, I'll take a shot on the "lesser" rack. Both are trophies...and, in NJ, I can kill 6 bucks per year ;)
