I figured I would join in on the fun and post up one of these "what if" style questions that have inundated BH.com recently.

You're in your stand and 2 bucks are in range. One is a 150" 10 point and the other is a 130" 8 point. You have a PERFECT shot at the 8 pointer, but no shot at the 10. Do you take the shot you have or do you wait and hope a shot at the 10 materializes.

I mean after all........we can't eat the antlers anyway, right? ;)

My answer? I'm probably waiting for a few seconds just to see what happens......but I'm not waiting long. My rule of thumb.....When a deer that I have decided I'm shooting is in range, take the first shot I get. I will probably wait, but only very briefly.

Assuming both are bigger than my personal best, then yet.......I'm shooting the first one unless I really think the bigger one is definitely going to offer a shot. Even then, I'm not waiting long.

I got myself into this situation last year. Passed up the smaller (but not small) buck to hope and pray for a shot at the big boy. Never happened so I got neither. So I would wait for the big one to possibly offer me an opportunity.

    150 all day... Everyday :p

But, I choose to not shoot 130 inch bucks here in Ohio. I will in PA though given the chance.

I guess it would depend the likelyhood that I may get a shot at the 150?

For instance if the 150 were following down the same trail as the 130 so that chances are great that I would get a shot...then I may hold off to see what happens.

But if chances look slim at getting a shot at the bigger one then yeah the 130 getting an arrow without hesitation.

I would wait for a few seconds or a min. but after that the 8 is riding home in the truck.

I'm taking the shot. With both being over my personal best I would be excited either way.

I am going to hold out for the 150". And when the shot doesn't materialize, I can then play "could of, should of" over and over in my head.

I am gonna have the pin on the 8, finger on the release. Hesitation, in my book, is a real haunting thing.:D

A harder decision for me might be if the buck in range was a 150 and a 170 was the 2nd buck. As far as the the 130 goes, I'm waitin on the ten.

My largest buck ever is only around 80" and to even see a 130" in my area would be enough to make the newspaper, but I believe the Greedy would come out in me and I would have to wait and see if the 150" would come in!!!

Its a tough, good question and lets hope I dont ever have to make that decision, hopefully the 150" comes in leading!!!

I'd smoke the 130 if the cameraman was on him....if the angle wasn't good, I'd pray the 150 worked out better. Either way, I'd take EITHER buck without hesitation or second guesses.
