Please watch the video in the story and comment. Should the officer get his job back? Should the judge have watched the tape? Self defense? Rory Bruce cleared of assault charges | ksdk.com
Sigh...he acted in self defense;( I'm sure his official statement and paperwork didn't contain any "exaggerations" of the truth. Okey-dokey....but he did get fired(for now) so that's good. I wonder how exactly the video wasn't viewed by the judge or admissable as evidence. Say for example the kid gets out, head butts the cop and resists arrest...I wonder if the video would have been used then, jk I don't really wonder about that. No he shouldn't get his job back and yes the video should have been viewed.
I wonder if that child/kid/man-child/ man spit in his face, trying to figure out what would make me react like that.
I was wondering that too. Jeff Roorda from the union stated the officer in the video did nothing wrong and the suspect clearly lunged forward. BTW it has been confirmed by multiple sources that Jeff Roorda is a moron. He delivered a vicious elbow("forearm tactic") to a defenseless individual who was cuffed behind his back and had his jacket pulled down over his arms as well. Chicken $hit move yet sadly the only way anything more serious may have happened to the cop would have been if the kid fell and broke his neck or something. Who cares just some punk that need a little "attitude adjustment"...I mean did you see his baggy pants?
yup - looks like pretty cut and dried self defense alright....that kid was going all kind of crazy. I do wonder though - how can that union guy making the statements he did after watching that video believe..."it's obvious that the kid lunged at the officer"(or whatever it was he said).
Wow! That kid was in no way acting in a threatening manner or anything that would warrant that kind of "sucker" punch from that officer. Hell no he shouldn't get his job back.
That would have been a 5 minute major for elbowing...and if he drew blood it could be 10 minutes and an ejection
Yea, he totally lunged forward I agree with New, a clear case of "adjustment". He should find another career.
I am pretty sure "lunging" would require some type of movement. If not, then I am doing my lunges all wrong! Seriously though...I did not see this kid move at all.
I bet the kid lied about something ha ha. (Sorry couldn't help it, been a long hot day) Seriously though I must of missed this "lung" that guy from the union was talking about. My biggest question would be how could they clear this guy without reviewing this video. Obviously this was back at the station and its not a big secret there's cameras everywhere.
I heard him laughing before the policeman gently readjusted his jaw Seriously...is this site going to come down to cop bashing videos now??? The cop shouldn't have done that... let's not start this crap tho
Good thing he was not wearing a hoodie, he would have shot him. Watched it again, punk move, but the person did not move. So I wonder what was said or done. Was it a random act of violence.
Looks pretty bad to me. I didn't see the guy lunge at all he actually looks like he is looking or talking to the other officer and gets blind sided either elbowed or punched in the face. Pretty BS my opinion !!!!!
Should be a loss of job and pension. But he's in a union so he's all good. Seriously though, despicable. What is with the IQ of most officers nowadays? You have to be aware that there is a camera there right? Sent from my SGH-T769 using Xparent Skyblue Tapatalk 2
It was the cop laughing, not the 16 year old. I posted this because there was a discussion about cops getting fired on another thread but I didn't want to hijack it with this video. I think this video is important not because of the single incident captured on film but rather because the head of the police union thinks this was perfectly acceptable, the cop should get his job back... and the head of the police union is a state congressman... and is running again. Don't you think we ought to take law enforcement and law makers to task when they perpetrate and support this kind of crap? It's hardly bashing. I don't hate cops. (not at all) But my respect for decent law enforcement officers doesn't mean I'm willing to overlook the actions by bad cops.
Like I mentioned in the other thread.....Law enforcement is about the only profession that has an unspoken code of non-reporting. In nearly every other profession, the bad apples are reported by their peers. For the head of the union to stand there and say that the boy lunged at the officer, is laughable. He should lose his job, end of story. I have nothing but respect for good LEO's. But, when the bad apples are protected by their peers, it makes them all look dirty. You would think that they would eventually figure that out. It is as if they are all afraid they may someday need the protection of the unspoken code.
