If it REALLY did come down to that.. I'd kill whatever I needed to not starve. That being said, I'm not sure how that could happen. There would be TONS of things being sold to provide money for food, before I poached.

You're assuming someone would have the money to buy it.....what if they didn't? What if you COULDN'T get it sold? If things ever did get this bad, and God I pray they don't.....you and I wouldn't be the only ones selling our belongings. Which means the market will be saturated with the stuff.....It's probable we wouldn't be able to sell it.

And Greg brings up a good point about the cattle. However, and here's another "what if......" If times are this bad, it's also likely we wouldn't have electricity to run the freezer. Now what?

You know what I've just realized? I have a TON of stuff to learn.....I'm growing a garden, gonna learn to can, build a smokehouse to preserve meats.....and I'm gonna go buy 6 dozen arrows and broadheads because the price of ammunition alone would cause me to go broke.... LOL This thread has succeeded in scaring the crap outta me..... :bash: :d

Maybe its just me, but I'd wipe out a flock of bald eagles if it meant keeping my family from starving. At that point....screw the game laws.

If there really weren't any other way for somebody to feed their family, then do what has to be done. But like was mentioned already, I don't think anybody is to that point right now in the US. There are still plenty of programs out there for people to get food for free.

Rotisserie Eagle....I think I have that recipe.

I would probably be doing lots of fishing/crabbing first, if I had to do more than that I'm sure I could.

same as Gmmat & the others. Feeding your family is a far cry from shooting a deer for its antlers. Would I turn them in, no. I know guys that have done that for food. But they do assume the risk of getting caught, and they usually know it. But if the guy is shooting the 30 ptr, he's busted. If times get as tough as they say, I can see that happening more often. Look at all the new homeless people out there because they lost their jobs. I believe that it's Seattle has a tent city forming at a rate of 50/day. LA has the same problem w/RV's showing up as the homeless pop.
I personnally know of a family, where the father is a concrete worker, laid off since the fall. Wife just lost her 2 part time jobs. they had $10k to survive on when they sold their truck. Their 10k is nearly gone. Mind you that is all their bills coming out of that, mortgage, utilities, food, etc. Now if he goes out and shoots something next month to eat because he's out of money, more power to him. You have to do what you can to survive. there's enough game out there.
