I bought two of these, both blackouts. One runs on Verizon the other AT&T.

My day time pictures are horrible. My buddies have Coverts and the other a stealth cellular cameras and their day photos blow mine away.

I called Spartan today and asked if there was anything I could do to get better photos.... He told me to go check my memory card! I mentioned if I wanted to check memory cards I would not have bought cellular cameras.

He then talks me into their premium service which is an additional $4 per camera per month so I could get higher quality photos. So I say let's do it (although I think it is BS I have to pay an additional $8 per month to get photos as good as the other cams that are FREE). He then tells me I have to go to my cameras location and change the settings to be able to use the premium service. That's impossible for me at this time. So here I am stuck with $1000 worth of piss poor daylight photos from these two cams.

Here is my most recent example.[IMG]

My pictures are great on both of mine. I get the premium for 3 bucks a month. I sold both my covert code blacks because of issues including bad pictures, water getting in cams, they would just stop working and I would panic thinking they were stolen, bad AT&T service and signal. None of those issues with my two Spartan no glow Verizon cams. My pictures are sent in high resolution and they are great. You will love the Spartan GoCam's once you get them setup.

I just cannot understand why Spartan compresses the photos all the way down to 35-45KB per photo. I pay for the data, not them. There is no reason to compress the photos quality to the point that the photos are useless. For $450 each plus the data you must purchase through your cellular provider it is ridiculous that Spartan wants an additional $4 per camera per month to receive useable daylight photos.

I've been wanting to jump into the cellular cam arena for a while, but I just haven't. I'm thinking I'm going to give the Snyper General a try. The price is pretty good and the pics I've seen from it has been solid as well.

I'm not sure about the 35-45k photos. I never get that. Mine are set to send 1280x960 pictures. They are great. I can also request a high resolution pic and get an even better picture. Once you get the premium and use the app you will love it. The app is great. You have complete control with realtime on. I think yours is set on the lowest setting. All of these cell cams have different resolution setting for sending pictures. You should be able to set yours for a higher setting but I have not played with that. If you buy more credits they are cheaper per month.

Am I crazy for thinking you shouldn't have to pay extra money for a subscription service to receive useable daylight photos when no other cellular camera manufacturer does?

No where in the description of the camera on their website does it say, that their daylight photos are worthless with out their paid subscription service. I would not have bought these if I knew this.

I think that is a crap move on Spartans part. I wouldn't be too happy. You shouldn't have less or more quality based on subscription.

I'm sorry to hear yours isn't meeting your expectations. I guess we are using them for different purposes and need different photo resolutions. Mine is in a very small woodlot/bedding area that is very difficult to hunt and access without alerting the deer. When I have big bucks on their feet during the day in there its time to slide in there. I don't need high resolution from this set up as much as I need real time info.

Your not crazy. I think the picture you provided is bad and it looks like it is a little foggy and may have moisture on the lens. Looks awful close to the ground also. That being said if all your pictures are that bad Spartan will help you out. Is there another setting with a better resolution without getting the premium plan? I have never seen a Spartan that has that bad or resolution. To be honest you want the premium plan. It's that good. And the price is very cheap compared to other cams monthly plans. I added my cams to my phone plan for 5 bucks a month and then 3 bucks a month for the premium plan. So for 2 cams with complete control I pay 16 bucks a month. Call Spartan with your issues and I know they will help out. They are good people.

I have this camera in the middle of a swamp, I am using this camera to see if there is a buck in there I would want to go after. I need more detail than if it is just a nice buck. I am not concerned if it is a daylight or night pic, just confirmation that there is the caliber of buck I am looking for.

All of my day time pictures are very poor quality. I did talk to them, once on chat and once on the phone. On chat he asked for my IMEI number and checed the camera out. What ever he did changed nothing. The cameras are both set at 8MP. When I called yesterday asking about what I can do to improve my photo quality he told me to go check my memory cards.... Then we talked about the subscription. If these cameras were accessible I would go to them and change the settings. This swamp camera would take me at least 5 hours between driving, crossing two rivers and walking through a huge bedding area to get to. Way to late in the game for that.

This is why I said screw cell cams a long time ago and still run and will continue to run normal non, cell cams. I can only justify so much expense and hassle over deer.

I hear ya. I have been there with my covert code black cams. They taught me to test them out in my yard before putting in the woods. I do that with all my cams. Call Spartan back and see what they say. I use SanDisk ultra or extreme cards. Never had an issue. I do know some other people that had issues with other cards.

The problem is the information wasn't upfront. No where did Spartan say these cams take trash photos without their premium subscription. Now it is to late for me to change this camera over to the premium service due to its location. If I could go change it over to premium right now, I would.

I am stuck with it like this for now.

That's how my buddies Covert and Stealth cams look also. When I get to that cam I will change the settings over to premium and subscribe. Just rubbed all wrong that this info was not disclosed by Spartan before hand.

In 3 of the 4 photos above in my post it appears like the deer do not even have heads.
