Well the deer are on their feet finally in southern Illinois. Had two small bucks pretty close to where I was hunting today. On the way home 15 minutes after shooting time tonight I saw a big buck probably at least a 150"+ deer. I would guess it was a 5.5 year old deer by the size of the body and the mass that his rack carried. Unfortunately he was on private land and not the public land I am hunting.
Saw him after shooting light but need to see him much earlier to kill him. Rut may take longer than we all think. Some experts predicting gun season this year. I gun hunt in Southern IL
